| At my wits end!! Please help. Ok to make a long story short(er) hehe when we got lorelai, my mom wanted dewie- although I was devistated, he was always a bit much for me to handle, and my two younger sisters who adore him live with my mom- so I figured it would be a great home! So they've had him for the past 3 months or so. Well I get a call Monday night from my parents saying that they are extremely sorry but can't take care of him- for reasons I will explain, but mainly because they dont have as much time to spend with him as they thought. So I said no problem, I miss him anyways, so I took dewie back. WELL, here is my delema. I knew I was going to have this problem, but I figured with dedication and help and advice from my favorite YorkieTalkers (that's you guys!!!) hehe I can get through this some of my sanity! Ok so I would like advice on if you think he will change in these areas, if I change some things... I will list his problems and possible solutions that I have kinda come up with. Oh and at my moms he was in a kennel for most of the day while everyone was at school Okay so.... 1. He is crazy hyper...BUT I am hoping if I take him on daily walks and have him play with our lab Duke, it will wear him out...and he wont be as hyper... He also is not fixed...so If I do that, will that calm him down?? OH AND BTW he is almost 11 months Another problem he has is his teeth, we call him purana because he never lost any of his teeth!! So he has both baby and adult sets in his mouth! I can only imagine that to be painful, so maybe if I get that taken care of he will be a better baby. 2. He is marking EVERYTHING- so if I get him fix will this problem be solved as well?? 3. When I try to pick him up or to pet him (this is new to me...) he RUNS! He's totally playing but I am getting so frustrated!! I am 8 1/2 months prego and when I bend over for something, I only want to do it ONCE. This is def not happening here. how do i fix this so I'm not getting frustrated when I know he's just playing???? So, my hubby thinks that I am trying to find him a home right now, but I really want to give him a chance. I love him so much but I am not sure If i can handle 3 yorkies at once and a skinbaby on the way. PLEASE give me the best and most advice as possible. I dont want to have to try to sell him but I also dont want to spend so much money on him to get him fix and teeth extractions to see if it helps and have no such luck. *sigh* Thank you all for your help!!!! Brianna

Donating YT 500 Club Member | Ohhh mannnn! You've certainly got your hands full! I wish you well with this. Don't know if I can help, but will try. 1. Walks should help... a good 30 min or more as long as you are feeling good enough. If not see if you can get him interested in playing fetch. Labs like to fetch usually so maybe Dewie will work hard to compete. I know... bending over more. : ( I would definitely get him neutered and his teeth taken care of. Neutering should help with the marking & settling him down. The baby teeth are setting him up for gum problems & may interfere with perm teeth aligning correctly. Once that is done, feed him soft food for a few days as his mouth will likely be sore for a bit. Baby teeth should all be out by now. You & vet aren't going to want to put him under for 2 surgeries when it can all be done at once. 2. Yes neutering should help with the marking. 3. Roxy went through a time when she would stay just far enough away from me that I couldn't pick her up... but then I was the one who did all the grooming, baths, etc to her. At 1 yo she has pretty much gotten through that & wants me to pick her up more. It was hard to get upset w/her cuz her avoidance procedure was so cute, but dang it anyway. I found that coaxing her to jump up onto a chair & treat worked a lot of the time... and less bending for me. Once she was on the chair, she didn't have a problem letting me pick her up. I hope something here helps. I'm sure others will have some ideas too. Good luck girll!

| Glad you are working on the teeth issue, those retained baby teeth can really cause him alot of problems. I am not sure of this, but if he is already marking not sure if the neutering will stop that problem. Have you tried belly bands? I have 3 males intact and I use belly bands for the marking issue.

| Belly Bands Mary (Jackson 25) how do you keep the belly band from sliding up under the arm pits? I tried one on my Bandit and it kept riding up letting his little dinger out, therefore defeating the purpose!

and i am working on the teeth issue- regardless he needs them fixed, if I do end up selling him, I will just ask for re-embursment for the surgery, but I do agree they can cause a lot of problems...his testies just dropped so I am comfortable with getting him neutered now. And how do you handle 3 males?? LOL males are so crazy compared to girls!

| I purchase just overnight thin maxi's and stick them on to the belly band. I don't have any slipping problems. Of course you have to change the pad as needed! Don't laugh, have had people ask!

Donating YT 500 Club Member | PS: When cleaning up his marking spots, be sure to use an enzyme cleaner such as Miracle Solutions (I think that's the name of it. Available in most pet stores.) Otherwise the urine odor is still there attracting him back to mark again, even though you cleaned it up with an ordinary cleaner.
