| Chloe needs a playmate...boy or girl? help please Hi Guys. Chloe has been with us for about 6 weeks now and she is perfect. She really is. And that's why we feel we need to get her a playmate. Too bad we haven't just gotten two puppies at once. Our 8yr old sheltie doesn't really want to play with Chloe and nor does the 23yr old cat. So here is the big question...Out of your experience would you recommend a girl or boy playmate for Chloe? I am torn and can not decide. With the boy I am concerned about him marking his territory or trying to jump on Chloe......help please.

| Boys/girls or boy/boy generally do better than girl/girl in my opinion. However, there are cases with people that have all girls and have no issues. So I think get what you want and it should work out! Boy/girl combos are great and very popular. As for the boy marking/humping... Jackson was neutered at 6 1/2 months and he lifts his leg outside but never indoors. He has never tried to hump another dog ever even before he was neutered but he did hump his stuffed bear and will still occasionally. Never had issues with him humping dogs/people/etc ever. Just be sure your girl is spayed and the boy is neutered.

| Thank you. Chloe is one of Breny's puppies and she will get a playmate that's for sure. Breny has one more puppy available (Dylan) so I will have to make up my mind about boy or girl very very soon.

| As a breeder, I have had problems with girl/girl and with boy/boy. IMO...boy/girl either altered or intact make the better companions. I have never had any problems yet with boy/girl. Neutering early will prevent any unwanted marking or breeding instincts. Hope this helps!

| With a boy/girl combo there is less likely to be dominance/territorial issues. We have a boy and a girl and LOVE it! They compliment each other perfectly and we get the best of both worlds. Franklin is my cuddle-bug but I get to dress up Maggie!

| LOL, Thank you Guys! I just snatched Dylan. Chloe and Dylan are related *somehow*. Chloe's mom and Dylan's mom are mom and daughter. I can't wait for the two of them meeting again. We'll have one very happy home

| I was going to post my opinion when I saw this post. Congratulations!!! I think you're going to be very happy with your decision and your new puppy. He's just a little doll.
