Iwill check on that male for sale. I am waiting for a lady to come to my house at 4 pm so I snuck in here to tell you guys Today I received wonderful news, it was not about my Cookie. A lady that posted on Craigslist about her 73 yr old grandma who lost her Chihuahua. This girl is AMAZING and too brave! She called to thank me for emailing her all the tips that I have done. She said they helped more than I imagined! She started posting flyers with bigger pictures on them. She walked and knocked door to door. She went through people's yards. Her grandmother was given maybe a year to live. She is diabetic and has a heart condition. So you could imagine how crazy this woman has been nonstop crying over her lost chihuahua. The grand daughter who is in her late 20's Took the flyers to stores, streets and anywhere they would let her put the flyer. She went to a little store that sells lotto and milk... She went today and asked if she could post a flyer on their glass. The guy working started almost stuttering. He told her that some guy that goes there often went there trying to sell a chihuahua that looks just like this one! She asked if he knew more or less where he lived. YES! He lives in some corner house down the street. He is a drug addict. She drives like a madwoman...with her 5 yr old daughter and figures out which house it was. The front door was slightly opened. She ran in there and started to call for their dog named Roxie. The little chihuahua ran out of a room and into her arms! She got out of there and the man was outside yelling at her that he would call the cops because that was not her dog! Her husband is a cop and she told the guy" Call the cops!" She remembered that a few weeks ago this same man helped her grandma put something in her car and the chihuahua was with her. Well seems that he went to their house and stole the chihuahua went it went to potty!! She was out of breath but so excited that the first person she calls is me. Her grandma looked like she was going to pass out when she sees her grand daughter walk in with her chihuahua! The dog was born in their home and she is their little baby girl. She did give the store employee a reward. I told her that she is crazy but I am so glad that she got her baby back! She is going to help me post flyers in her area that is about 10 min away. She said she has cried several times reading my posts on craigslist and doesnt understand how people could be so cruel. Animal Control told her that there have been several thefts for small dogs to sell them for drugs and stuff. I will be meeting her soon when I get the flyers being mailed to me. This sounds like a soap opera but I get these calls everyday. |
Gen, Surley GOD is going to bless you for helping so many other people find their lost furbabies. I am praying that it will be Cookie he sends back to you. |
Wow! That is amazing, she is very brave. I just don't understand how anyone could be so horrible as to steal a dog. Its just unfathomable, this world needs a lot of fixing. |
I don't post often, but I'm on here every day, sometimes several times. I keep watching your post count, knowing that the number will explode when Cookie gets home. Notice I said "when" and not "if." I believe that if he's alive out there, that you will see him again. Keep up the good work. I can't believe how much good has come out of such a painful situation! Bless you many times over for all you have done! |
Gen, This whole experience shows the type of person you are. Very few people would forget their own pain long enough to help others. Many have said that you could really have a new career helping people find lost pets. God bless you Gen, I know you will find Cookie soon. Rose and Levi |
Wow! You've had a big day! It started when a woman called about an ad I answered about a found Yorkie, I sent some Cookie photos, 'Looks just like him' she said, called Gen who talked to the lady and convinced her that she should take the dog to a vet and have it scanned. It wasn't Cookie because it had large testicles LOL! The lady's husband was already in love with the dog but I think by tomorrow Gen may have helped reunite another lost dog with it's owner! I think she'll call back to talk about what happened at the vet. SuperGen!! |

Diane I LOVE that you said WHEN. I believe in my heart that if he is alive with anyone else that I will see him again. Of that I am certain. I am glad that I got to speak to that woman that found this other Yorkie in Kissimee FL. She did'nt really convince me that she would go ahead and scan it. She said a bunch of people have called and said it was there dog and wanted to go get it. The dog has a collar on and she will ask "the owner" exactly what this collar design is like and the color. I told her how much I have cried over this. I told her I grew up being taught that dogs are not friends, that dogs do not have feelings, dogs don't love, dogs eat whatever scraps of food you give them. She said she grew up the exact same way. But she said that this type of breed seems to be so different than other dogs she's been around. I told her that Yorkies are unique and are like kids and she giggled and agreed because the little yorkie does the silliest childish things. Her husband has fallen in love with it but she said she realizes that someone loves this little dog even more. She is taking it tomorrow to see if it has a chip. She sounded really sad to hear that Cookie has been missing over 7 weeks. I really don't realize how this experience has affected so many lives. I just do it because I feel like its Cookie that I'm helping find. Believe me I'm no hero or angel. I'm just like all of you. At this point I can't even imagine how I will react to have Cookie in my arms. I would not be able to drive back home. This lady that called me today was so excited that I had to ask her to repeat who she was and what she was calling me for! She kept screaming " I found Roxie!! I got her back!!" Roxie was missing for about a week. I just saw her Craigslist Ad. OMG starting a little home office for helping find lost or stolen pets? I have thought many times in the past few weeks that there needs to be a place like this. It's one thing in my life that I can tell you would never get boring. Every single day something happens. I had NO idea how many missing dogs & cats there were in our city. I would like there to be a place where people could call immediately when a pet is lost or stolen and they could get a list of things to do immediately. Flyers,Posters would have a cost. One thing I WISH could be done is a Live Poster Campaign. Meaning we could have large handheld posters with at least 5 people holding these signs, painted car windows with bright colors. Letting people see the people holding up signs, beeping horns ... Move to another street and do the same. The treasure coast where I live NEEDS a K9 unit that searches for pets. Now I'm waiting for that call and every call could be the one. I was telling Reesie'sdad that lastnight around 2 am I felt so calm like if Cookie was never missing and it was some nightmare.I felt a really warm little body near my neck. Monica had curled up her little body all the way to the back of my neck. I turned over and saw it was her. I cuddled with her for a few minutes and fell asleep again. Gen |
Another FL yorkie reunited with its owners after a year and a half! I had nothing to do with this reunion but I did get a call from FLorida Yorkie Rescue (Kitty) amazing woman! Some guy posted on craigslist that he was giving away a female yorkie. Well she called and the guy told her that his mom found it over a year and a half ago. She never got it scanned because she wanted to keep it. Well she ended up having 2 litters from their yorkie and now they wanted to give her away. She was picked up and handed over like nothing. The dog was scanned and it was chipped! The owners were contacted and they were on their way earlier to go get her! I have a few words for what they did to that yorkie! I mean a 1.5 yrs. They never took it to a vet in all that time? That lady that found her or stole her never loved that yorkie! How could he say his mom fell in love with it and kept it! To breed her! ugh:thumbdown Gen |
God is truly using this to work for the good. I believe you have got to be reunited with Cookie. This thread has to have a happy ending! |
Gen Ive been checking in from time to time. praying Cookie comes home to you soon. I never told you about my Hubby's dad and his wife Chi. many years ago their chi came up missing, they knew someone had stole it , he was about 3 lbs and was getting up there in age. well 5 years went by and one day they got a knock at their door, there stood an older women and their chi in her arms. she started crying and told them that years ago she had took their baby. after that she turned to god and started going to church and with the quilt of taking this baby from its family she knew she had to return him. so here it was 5 years later and she too had fell in love with this little chi, she handed him over to them. sadly he was very old then and they only got to spend the last year of his life with him. |

he has a scar, and several other things that I would be able to ID him. That other Kijiji ads that always lists Yorkies. I always check them out also. That story was amazing about the chi that had been missing for 5 long years!. All I can tell you is I would be glad to spend 1 last year with Cookie. I would make it the best year of his life and he'd be in my arms till the end. People do crazy/ stupid things sometimes I just never ever thought about taking someone's furbaby! :( Gen |

But you have a good eye for comparing them! Gen |

Not to upset you but I'd look into what the laws are in Florida. If vets down there scan all dogs then you're way ahead of some states. |
Still thinkin' of ya Cookie! Praying for you to come home. |
Some vets say that it's an invasion of privacy to scan a dog that comes in for the first appt. Some vets dont listen to that and still scan dogs. My vet told me she scans all dogs and cats that come in for the first appt. Gen This is why I am going to mail all the vets and hospitals the flyer again and add a side letter. Telling them that he is still missing and to please keep him in mind. All I ask is that they call the microchip number and verify who is registered as the owner. The person who is taking the dog to the vet has to fill out name/ address info for vet records. |
Hi Gen, Just checking in for updates. Nothing new... I see that you have been helping a lot of other people reunite with their fur babies. That is awesome and I can only imagine the feeling you get when you hear of these reunions. I know it must be hard for you but also rewarding. Hang in there. Always thinking of you, your family and Cookie. |
We are checking your thread multiple times a day, just praying for good news. Keep up the hope. |
just checking in.... come home cookie!!! |
Just checking in. Hoping for some good news. I'm always thinking about you and cookie Gen! If you need to print anything else out please let me know it's not a problem at all! |
Oh Dear God, please bless Gen with Cookie's return home...Amen |

I got the flyers yesterday! Thank you! I am going to mail out to the vets in our county again. Even though they have them. Some people do take them down after a few weeks. I'm adding a letter forthem to please keep this flyer up. I will call them to let them know when to take them down. Gen |

What do you think about possibly mailing flyers to as many groomers as you can find in your area. I'm not sure if a groomer could/would do anything if a Yorkie came in that looked like Cookie but it might be worth trying. (sorry if someone has already mentioned this... I haven't read through all of the posts). |
I was thinking about other places to put a poster, the reward poster. Assuming someone picked him up and has him, they might use him as a fashion accessory and take him places other than a groomer or vet. My daughter used to take Reesie in her carrying case when she shopped at places like Bebe's, Hollister, you know, places where a cute little Yorkie would get some attention. Jealous girls will give up their friends anonymously for that reward. Once you have a solid hit you'll have to work with that person to get the inside look at the little one. Have them look for all the things that you know would Id. Cookie. Then...it's time to get the police involved. Did they ever assigned the case to a detective? I can't see you busting in and grabbing Cookie like with that Chihuahua that you mentioned and they'll never give him up voluntarily or you would have had a ransom call by now. The other thing was that if he was picked up by someone on their way home from work then he could be within in a one-hour's drive radius. Around here people will drive two hours one way just to get to work and not care about the distance. Don't know how it is down there but an hour is the limit on reasonable. Contacting all vets and groomers within that might widen the search. Somebody has him. Just have to wait for them to make a mistake. |

It would have to be someone that works early Sunday hours because this happened on a Sunday and around 2 pm ...maybe a little earlier. I wanted to go out to that Dog Park today but it was pouring today so I'm sure no one was there with all this rain and it was in the late 30's I'm going tomorrow near the mall and will put a reward/Poster by the entrance of the mall. I think it might be someone close to home. Any friends or neighbors (within a quarter mile) that always ooooh'd over him that you might not have heard from since November? |
