Gen I just spoke with CNN keep your fingers crossed! |
Just checking in for updates. I always go directly to the last page hoping for good news. |
Winston and I want to be here when Gen gets back...we are having a good feeling about this lead...could it be...please let it be, Cookie. I know a story like this would be the headline of our local newspaper and local news. Is this so common that those in Florida don't find it intriguing, heart wrenching. Cookie please come home for Christmas...Amen |
Please please be cookie and if not.... please big man upstairs keep him safe and protected.... thankfully we are having good weather here, it's warm .. not cold... We are big on dogs down here, all restaurants, malls, stores are really dog friendly, he has to be seen some time some where... I would go to Gen's in a heart beat and help her I am really close to Port St Lucie.. I just hurt so bad for her I could not magine:dogwalk: come on cookie run run run we are all waiting for you!!!! I am so impressed by how all YT' ers have responded!!!!! |
maybe . . . Gen, I was looking online for ways to find lost dogs and I came upon an organization that finds lost pets using search dogs. They were in Texas, so I did another search and found a national directory for the Missing Pet Partnership. They list someone in the Tampa area, though it says she isn't currently working with a search dog. It gives her contact information. I don't know . . . it might help. Sometimes when I've posted to this thread and put links in the post, it didn't show up here, so I'll just tell you to search "Pet Detective National Directory" without the quotes. The Website talks about fee-based detectives and volunteers. I had never heard about using dogs to find a dog, and I don't know what their success rate is or what they might or might not charge. Just trying to find any stone unturned. |
It's not what you have in the world, but who you know..That makes the difference... Hi Gen, I'm so glad things are progressing well now. I know their were a few unhappy members when I posted before and could tell by reading the responses that it was better for me not to suggest any more ideas or post. I discussed this with my close friend and I knew if anyone would be able to help get Cookie home she would be the one. I see she is now picking up and following through for all leads. Hope to have Cookie home soon. Kathleen.... Mom To My Little Girls: Punken Pie Breese Be Be Lil Ol Tuffy... RIP |

I am at the edge of my seat just waiting for good news. I think of Cookie often during the day. He is still in my prayers. |
Thank you everyone. All suggestions are read by me. Nothing sounds too crazy. Today I got calls all day. People calling about what I should do. Telling me their story. I also got a wrenching call. This lady called to tell me that she didnt want to scare me but this is what happened thisweek. Her husband was going to get gas and their were cars stopped, cops were called and the humane society was there. Well there was a little dog running scared back and forth. They could not catch it. It ended up getting hit by a car. Well he comes home and opens a newspaper and says omg this is the little dog I was just talking about. She told me to please go check the remains and ask the Humane Society to please scan it several times to see if it has a chip. So my mom gets in the car with me and I grab a blanket and a flashlight. We drive about 15 miles away and park the car.We walk up and it was just too big of a mess. The remains looked way too big plus I saw white hair also. IT did have tan/black color but that white streak... Tomorrow morning I am calling the Humane Society since they are only on the next block. Telling them to please take the time to drive a block away and take their scanner. Try to scan it several times. I rather know if its him or not. I just didnt feel anything when I saw the remains. It looked like it could have been a 7 lb dog. But nothing was recognizable. No ears, face, tail, everything was...I dont want to describe any more. My mom just got back in the car with me and said " This is what you ve been going through for over 4 weeks?!" I said yes. The other lead with the small dog drinking from a puddle, I didnt see him anywhere. God watch over him , where ever he is. Tomorrow I have to call back a lady who also lost a pet and she is devastated and she just needed to talk. Gen |
Gen, I'm so happy that Jasper seems to be working out and may end up being a permanent fixture at your house! Seems like a bond is already forming with your 17 yr old son. That's great news! I'm still praying my heart out that Cookie will be home SOON! Hugs, Jean |
I am hoping for a Christmas miracle. I have a good feeling, there is such a charge of emotion in this thread. There is something more here..I know it. I have a good feeling don't give up. We are all behind you. I am praying for Cookie. |
Good morning Gen. I was looking to see if there was any news this morning. I'm sorry that the little one drinking from a puddle wasn't around. I watched your video this morning and cried my eyes out. I pray that you find Cookie soon. |

Cookie in the News Paper 4 Attachment(s) Nope no news from TV shows. I dont understand either how someone could see a tiny dog and not try to catch it? But I still thanked the caller for letting me know exactly what street. Well this morning I went out and saw the weekly Free Local paper thrown on my driveway. I remembered a lady was going to try and get my story published. When I opened the paper, I opened the center page and wanted to cry. They gave us over half a page and we were the featured YOUR NEWS story. That is why more people have called since lastnight. I did go and try to id the remains lastnight as I mentioned. I called 911 this morning and explained that I needed to talk to Animal Control because Humane Society (even though they are literally about 3 blocks away from the scene where the remains are) they said to call Animal Control. The 911 operator didnt automatically switch me. Instead they wanted to know what happened. I let them know that my dog has been missing over 3 weeks and I was told that a Yorkie was killed about 12+ miles away. I said I needed to know if that was my dog or not and if they could send Animal Control to scan it. I got a call within 10 minutes from Animal control. The officer told me that he was out there on Tuesday night when the dog was running and they tried everything to catch it but it was running scared. he did confirm it was a small yorkie. The cops also were called to control traffic. Well I told him that someone called me lastnight and they said they saw a yorkie get hit on this street. The officer said this was the same street they tried to catch that yorkie. So he would get someone out there and try to scan the remains. He said depending on which type of chip it was it might be destroyed as well. Some wont be crushed as easily so he said he would let me know if they could read a chip off the remains. Today people called that read the newspaper and this woman broke down on the phone talking to my husband. My husband started to cry. My husband had NOT read the story I wrote until he saw the paper today. He just stood over the sink staring out the window. I knew he was crying so I let him be. My mom is with us until tomorrow and she came to try and help. I mentioned before that as I searched online for all Florida ads selling yorkies /Adult yorkies. I looked through a few hundred ads looking at pictures. One ad stood out for a moment I thought Cookie was dressed as a girl. Taking a closer look at more pictures it was obvious it wasnt him but then I still read the ad.3 yr old female wanted to sell as pet only or breeding , they preffered as pet only for $500. I was like OMG if I only had that money. I showed the picture and ad to my husband and he said the same thing "OMG Cookie" Well he called my mother, my mom didnt even let him finish and she took this out from a credit card that she has never used. This precious girl is here with me. I dont know what emotions I was feeling but I just felt tears. My mom is completely in love with her and told me " This will never be Cookie and never replace him but I will tell you that she is deffinately therapy" My family has asked how is another yorkie here? My mom didnt even let me reply. She just said "Oh well we have an agreement and her birthday is next week anyway" I dont know what to say. I hugged my mom like I have NEVER hugged her in my life to thank her. Like I mentioned to some people that I never had a relationship with her and never felt that mother bond between mother and daughter" Until now that I turn 40 is that I see my mom totally different. A church called us telling us they wanted to have a prayer for Cookie. She felt so moved by my story. All I know is that GOD is amazing. I do not see the whole big picture and dont know how this will end. All I can say is that good things have come from this.I just want to be at peace with the outcome. What I want is Cookie back, I can say this a thousand times a day. God hears my prayers and the prayers of hundreds probably thousands of people praying for Cookie. I want to "know" I took a picture of the newspaper story. Next to that is the little girl that has found a permanent home with us. She snuggled up to my neck and went under the sheets and slept right next to me. I miss that so much. Included is her picture also. Now there are 5 dogs here and Cookie makes 6! We had issues with Jasper today but he needs to be walked more, no doubt about it. |
Forgot to mention that Yorkietalk.com is mentioned in the newspaper story. So there are probably guests viewing this thread now. Gen |
God does work in mysterious ways! But I have got to quit reading this thread at work....... I just can't keep crying at my desk!! (But can't stand not to look several times a day for news of Cookie.) Gen - still praying for your family and Cookie's return! God Bless that paper for putting your story out there. Thank you!! |
You have such a big heart, I hope Cookie is found. |
Congrats on the little girl. What did you name her? She does look like Cookie. I am still praying that he comes home soon. |
Oh I do hope this little girl can help your family deal with the pain a little bit better. I think about Cookie EVERY day and pray for all of you! Theres a lady here in Arkansas in my town who is just as determined as you are to find her Maltese. Posters are EVERYwhere, she even posted it on the New Moon poster at the movies knowing people would be going to look =P Everytime I see her little poster about Mickey I think of Cookie. She thinks Mickey was stolen from her as well, its just so awful that people can have such cruel hearts. This new little girl is so beautiful by the way! |

Now that I finally decided to bake Cookies for my daughters. It's a constant reminder because I hear " mom did you make more cookies today? or What kind of Cookie is this? So the name is repeated all day and on TV as well. The Police got back to me and the same officer called me. I didnt know it was the actual police I was talking to! Anyway he told me that he had a animal control female officer scan the remains several times and there just wasnt a chip or it was destroyed. He said he was really sorry that they could not get a chip reading at least I would know for sure. But he said they are the ones who get calls for found dogs, stray animals and he will remember my Yorkie and he said he would contact me if they get any calls for a Yorkie. I told him thank you for doing this and I really understand because I went in person and saw the remains and you could barely tell what animal it was. So everyday that passes I have several more people letting me know they are looking or keeping an eye out for him. I ran into a couple at PetCo who saw me with Monica (the little girl yorkie) and the wife was giving Monica compliments and she mentioned about the story she just read in the newspaper. I told her that I wrote that story about Cookie. She just said that she read it and it broke her heart and kept saying how sorry she was that this happened. I told her I am "ok" I just want him back of course but ultimately I just need to know. Her maltese died 3 months ago and she still cries for her. They gave her a yorkie to help her. She said the yorkie seems more likea Silky Terrier because he is really big and his nose is so long. I told her that Yorkies come in so many different sizes that he probably is purebred as his papers show. She said either way they love him so much. Gen |
Aww I definitely know how she feels, thats how I got Luna. I lost my little boy and it just tore me up I never left bed I was just SO empty feeling and I decided to get a Maltese. When I went to the ladies house to look at them though I just fell head over heels for this little Yorkie and ended up taking her home that day lol! |
just checking in .. congrats on your new girl she is very sweet looking Praying for a Christmas miracle |
Your new girl is adorable! Wait until Cookie comes home and discovers he has a new brother and sister! You are so wonderful to be helping all of these precious dogs! :) |
Your new little girl is absolutlely adorable Gen. |
Gen, I am beyond thrilled for you and Monica. What a cutie, my god! I know NO OTHER DOG will ever take Cookie's place (well, they don'y have to anyways, he's coming home!I'm sure he is.) but at least for now Monica and Jasper can help you and your family cope with the pain a bit better. Good things come to good poeple. you are an amazing person with the biggest heart I have ever seen. Maybe Monica is a little "deposit" towards your ultimate christmas gift from Santa, which is hopefully going to be Cookie himself. We will keep praying for Cookie, no doubt. xoxo |
