Default Need advice PLEASE!

So Dh's bday is the 17th but we are going to celebrate it this weekend. I rented a corvette for dh and we are going to drive up to his brothers house in Agora Hills ( Thousand Oaks) and have the party up there, with his Mom, Dad, brother and sisters... Well the house we are going to is his brothers and he lives with his gf.. The problem is his gf HATES peanut!! I know right.. how is it possible?? Its true she wont even pet him!! Anyways I am over the fact that she hates my furbaby I have been in the family now for 3 years and thankfully she treats me GREAT, and its not like she treats Peanut bad when they are around eachother she just ignores him...

Do you guys think I should leave peanut home? We will be gone all day wont get home till late night, I also wasnt sure if Peanut would be "scared" of the corvette??

If I do take him, I will have to hold him or leave him on his leash the whole time.. Thats not cool I dont think.. Its not like I can let him go in the house.. ERGH I dunno..makes me so upset Its not like Peanut is even bad, I watch him like a hawk when he is around her, he is the best dog, I wish she would accept him, makes me so sad. I wish we were going to his parents house, then Peanut would be able to go and have fun too!!

Am I crazy? Am I thinking way too much about this LoL. DH says Peanut will be fine to stay at home... but that makes me sad knowing he is by his self and not with Me..

What do you guys think?

I would never take my dog any place she is not welcomed. One day home alone should be just fine. Peanut will get over it. Just enjoy the day's events without having to fuss and worry about Peanut.

Thanks, I think it ALWAYS helps hearing other comments, esp other people that love their yorkie like I love Peanut. I agree it would be different if Peanut could go and enjoy his self and NOT have to be held and on his leash the whole day At that point he would be better off at home and comfortable!! Ergh I wish and pray one day she will accept Peanut, but I dont think that will happen haha!

Whats wrong with people?? How can you not love Peanut?? It makes me upset

Hey girl...that is a hard one. Whenever we have family functions, Snickers ALWAYS comes and everyone just adores him. And whoever is new (maybe friends or others who come along) is kinda made to like Snick since we all worship him so much lol.

Why don't you call and ask and see what they say?? That might give them the indication you REALLY want to bring Peanut. Having Snickers stay home all day and late into the night is never going to happen so I feel ya there, I would drop him at his babysitters if he is not coming with us all day. I know how you feel. That stinks!!

Having to hold him all day or leash him would not be so fun for you or Peanut....I hope it all works out and you get to take him and he gets to run around.

Smiles-

Not all people like or love dogs. And some of us dog people go too far; treating our dogs as if they are human children.

I ran into a couple the other night at a Chinese buffet. They had their little chihuaua in a bag at their table. A DOG IN A RESTUARANT IS A BIG NO NO! I complained to the management about it and was ignored. Consequently I no longer patronage that eating establishment.

No matter how much we love our dods, there are limits regarding whether their appearance at some places is appropriate.

Yes it is a hard one, the whole family does adore him, but not Ayla. It sucks bc she adores me, just not Peanut. I think she just doesnt like animals period. If I call her and ask her she will tell me to bring him, but she wont want anything to do with him and she wont want him to run around.. so at that point why bother. Thats not fair for Peanut.. Maybe he can go to his day care, and then Sunday he can have special Mommy/Peanut time.

I tend to agree with this statement, as much as I love to bring Brandi with me everywhere I go, I still have to be mindful of how others may feel about bringing Brandi along. If I am going to a friends house I always ask before bringing Brandi. I never assumed it's okay. I never take her to any eating establishments. I am okay with Brandi being at home alone sometimes. Besides she does nothing but sleep anyway....most of the time.

Also, I would never be able to enjoy myself taking her some place where I know she is not welcomed. I would be to busy watching her.

I think these 2 situations are totally different. One is going to a family members home and the other is a public establishment. I don't think taking your doggie to a family members home constitutes as treating Peanut like he is your child. If you were treating him like your child, you would be taking him no matter what your family said about it. You're being very considerate about the GF's feelings and I think that's great of you.

Taking a dog into a restaurant is completely inappropriate and a whole nother issue.

Good Luck!!

I love my dog, but as a husband, I wouldn't be happy if on my special day the dog would compromise a fun time with the family. It is just the one day. He will be okay. Do you have a doggy door? We have that luxury. If you don't, have someone watch him then you know he will have company, and you can have a great time (stress free).

Well DH loves Peanut and would enjoy his company just as much as I do. He wants Peanut to go, but knows Peanut wouldnt be that happy... No I dont have a doggie door, I would never want Peanut outside with out me there to watch him. He will be ok at home. It just sucks

I would leave him at home. I have some family who arent animal lovers or are cat lovers but not dogs. I leave mine at home when we go

Me neither! I'd be worried to death. I've heard way too many horror stories of dogs getting out somehow, people stealing them from your backyard, hawks, other wild animals. I'm not even one of those paranoid "moms" and I let Jackson do a lot of things some ppl on here wouldn't let their dogs do... but leaving him out back (even in a fenced in area) when I'm not home... I'd be worried the whole time I was gone.

Just leave him at home Sometimes it ends up being more work than it's worth.
