| What do you do when you're sick? I've been working the H1N1 clinics this week... and lo and behold, yesterday I got slammed with something good. We didn't get our vaccinations for H1N1 until the day before the clinics began on Tuesday, so the vaccination hadn't even had a chance to do anything yet. I don't know if its the flu or not, I just know it's nothing like I've ever experienced before. Oliver is NOT dealing with me being sick well at all! This is the first real sickness since I brought him home, and he has been really clingy lately and doesn't entertain himself as much as he used to. I CAN'T play... sitting here on the couch typing is enough to make me need a nap for 2 hours. He is restless and whinny and just not helping matters at all. I am so frustrated with him, but yet I feel bad because it's not his fault, he needs his play time. I just can't give it to him right now I would call a friend to come and entertain him or do a puppy play date and take him away, but the threat of H1N1 is way too real and I can't risk getting friends sick in case that's what I have. I was so hoping that he'd be one of those dogs that just knows, and cuddles you to health. Nope, not happening. Anyone else have this problem, and what do you do? Ignoring the whining is difficult, but I am sure trying. He can't have bully sticks to keep him busy as if he gets too much protein he gets sick. I love this dog to death but I really need to rest and he is just not making it easy! It's very frustrating. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated at this point.

| Sorry to hear your feeling so horrible! Hope you get over it soon. I have no advice for you to help with your baby. My girl would sleep by me in the bed for days I think! LOL Shes likes her sleep, just like mommy. She has always been this way. |

| With the whining, I would lock them out of the room I was in or see if maybe a family member would watch them for at least a few hours, if not a day or two. My boys cuddle me when I'm sad or sick, they just know. They do get restless and bark at me when I'm stubborn and don't want to take them outside, but I generally give in. If I were to get sick, I'm lucky in the aspect that I would just make my husband take care of them, haha. Good luck and feel better soon!

| Thanks for all your well wishes. I did end up having to crate him last night, which I hate doing as he's a puppy mill rescue and has definitely spent way too much of his life caged, but I just couldn't take it anymore. I have someone coming over today to take him for a walk and play some ball. Thankfully he had his H1N1 vaccine 2 weeks ago so he should be safe. Here's hoping that some time playing will help him to lighten up some.

| I was also wondering the same thing. I know I have the flu, it came on fast, I had a soar throat Thursday and today woke up with a fever. I don't know if its H1N1 but I do feel bad bc each time Gizmo comes near me I am shunning him away bc I don't want him to get sick. I didn't know they were even offering the H1N1 vaccine for dogs, I'll have to check out my vet for that one.

| Sorry you are feeling under the weather. Pasquale usually likes it when i'm under the weather cause he LOVES the opportunity to cuddle and sleep with me all day! Anyways, I would call my doctor if I were you and tell him/her about your symptoms. Tell them you'd like a blood test done to rule out H1N1. Hope you feel better soon!

| I just got over H1N1 about 2 weeks ago. Boy let me tell you, I was only with a fever and homebound for 6 days, but by day 4 Maddie was driving me crazy! I know how you feel. I felt so bad because I was home, which usually means "PLAY WITH ME MOMMY!" since I am not always with her during the day. A couple of days my friend came by and took her for a long walk and such for me which helped a lot. Other days when I just HAD to sleep, I put Maddie in her pen and took a nap. I would try to see if you can get anyone to take her for a daily walk. I hope you feel better soon! Wish I had some more advice for you! |

| Whenever I am not feeling well and confined to my bed, Lucky doesn't move from my side!! I'm extremely grateful for that too....I just bring his food and water in my room and we are in bed watching movies!! He is such a good boy! I hope you get back to your self soon....being sick is just awful!!

LittleJade39: I don't think Jenn meant H1N1 vaccine for dogs. I think the person coming to help her had his H1N1 vaccine a couple weeks earlier.

| Yes, I did mean the person coming to help me has had the vaccine. There currently is not a vaccine for animals. From what I can tell, there has only been one confirmed human to pet case, and that was to a cat. I'm still keeping my distance as much as I can, but I'm all Oliver has so I can't completely stay away.
