| The typical "rule of thumb" is to double the 12 week weight and add a pound. Jackson pretty much fits that rule to a tee. At 12 weeks old, he weighed 6lbs and now at nearly one year old, he's 12.5lbs and I think he's done growing.

| Hmm... well, I can't know for sure. He's not quite a year old yet ( will be next week...) and he hasn't been to the vet in a little over a month, where he was 12.5lbs at the time. I'd say he stopped growing around 9-10 months?

| Twinkle was about 6lb at 6 months too. She's a year old now and weighs about 12/13lb.......she's still really small, but I won't be carrying her around in a purse any time soon! xxx

Yorkie Yakker | Well his mom is 7 lbs and dad is about 4. He is the biggest in the litter. I would rather him about 7 lbs. Who knows. He's so tiny do you think he'll fill out? Also, his hair is sort of thin & puffy but very soft, will it grow in more? His colors keep changing but his silver always stays? |

| His mum and dad's weights are exactly what Twinkle's were.....she was also the largest in the litter. I always thought she was quite skinny, even when she was about 7/8lb...she filled out a bit from 10 months (ish) but the vet says she isn't overweight...she actually looks a bit better because she's not so 'gangly' now The silver on Derby's head will change from silver to tan...not too sure at what age, I think it depends on the individual yorkie. Twinkle was silver and tan by 8 months with no black at all, but Wicket, who is almost 9 months, still has lots of black on his back, silver on his head and legs and a tan face xxx

Yorkie Yakker | So I took him to get neutered and he weighs 5.4lbs and it 6.3 months. He's smaller than I thought. What are your thoughts? Still the same? The vet said they stop growing earlier and he may be almost done? She did say he could gain a little due to the neutering but he's still so active and doesn't eat much? We walk at least twice a day and he gets holistic food and maybe if were lucky eats 3 quarters of a cup a day? Thanks! Last edited by yorkiemamma09; 10-25-2009 at 12:38 PM. |

But some continue growing longer, and some don't follow the rules at all. | |
