How big do you think my yorkie will get? HI,I have a Yorkie boy WHO IS ALMOST 6 MONTHS OLD AND IS ALMOST 6LB. I got him at 14 weeks he weighed 3lbs for up until 16 weeks nad has gained a lb a month thus far. But he is so small still? How big do you think he'll get? |
The typical "rule of thumb" is to double the 12 week weight and add a pound. Jackson pretty much fits that rule to a tee. At 12 weeks old, he weighed 6lbs and now at nearly one year old, he's 12.5lbs and I think he's done growing. |
I didn't have him then, I am assuming he was between 1-2 lbs? When did your stop growing? |

Well if that's the real rule of thumb, our guy is going to be like oh.. 14 pounds LOL Derby is 3 months and 7 pounds 2 oz right now. HA! |
I would say he will be around 8-9 pounds... but that is based on my experience :D You never know! |
Twinkle was about 6lb at 6 months too. She's a year old now and weighs about 12/13lb.......she's still really small, but I won't be carrying her around in a purse any time soon! :D xxx |
Well his mom is 7 lbs and dad is about 4. He is the biggest in the litter. I would rather him about 7 lbs. Who knows. He's so tiny do you think he'll fill out? Also, his hair is sort of thin & puffy but very soft, will it grow in more? His colors keep changing but his silver always stays? |
His mum and dad's weights are exactly what Twinkle's were.....she was also the largest in the litter. I always thought she was quite skinny, even when she was about 7/8lb...she filled out a bit from 10 months (ish) but the vet says she isn't overweight...she actually looks a bit better because she's not so 'gangly' now:) The silver on Derby's head will change from silver to tan...not too sure at what age, I think it depends on the individual yorkie. Twinkle was silver and tan by 8 months with no black at all, but Wicket, who is almost 9 months, still has lots of black on his back, silver on his head and legs and a tan face xxx |

So I took him to get neutered and he weighs 5.4lbs and it 6.3 months. He's smaller than I thought. What are your thoughts? Still the same? The vet said they stop growing earlier and he may be almost done? She did say he could gain a little due to the neutering but he's still so active and doesn't eat much? We walk at least twice a day and he gets holistic food and maybe if were lucky eats 3 quarters of a cup a day? Thanks! |

But some continue growing longer, and some don't follow the rules at all. :D |

Wrigley was a little over 3 1/2lbs at 6 months and she's 6lbs now at 3yrs old! |
Wow, when did Wrigley stop growing? Every Yorkie is so different. |
