This is Random, but how do you get them to pose for photo's?
 
I have seen some BEAUTIFUL pictures of your furbabies on here :D How on Earth do you get them to sit still for a picture? Bella wants to turn away from, or sniff, the camera! lol

And lots of luck!! I have used treats as well!!

A lucky shot I got last easter...
And Nicky wanting to sniff the camera, he was further away from me then it looked. Nana was laughing at her furgrandbaby!!

Along with treats I use a dog whistle to help get their attention! Works great! I never thought I would be able to get good pics. Since I bought the whistle I can get some great pictures!!! Then I give them treats.

Yup treats, treats and more treats. and the picture taker has to have patience. I think all yorkies love the camera, but some really LOVE IT. Peanut will pose anytime, anywhere :D I have to break out the treats when he starts "looking away" haha

Buddy normally loves to pose. He sees the camera and he's ready to go.
I also say sit, who's coming? The word coming brings the head tilt everytime.

I use lots of high pitched noise, it gets that little head tilt and they get really still for a moment.

First of all you do need patience, especially if you have a active pup. To get the pretty shots I have a large velour bedspread that I will just put of the floor and I will drape part of it over something. Sometimes will take them in the bathroom and close the door so they cannot run too far. Then I just sit or stand and talk to them, show them a toy or treat and just start taking pictures. Here are some I took a couple of week ago of two of my 5 month old pups. They kept wanting to run off the bedspread but they finally stopped long enough for me to get a picture. The last picture is of the pups dad, Jazz.

hahaha i been tryin years,,, my old boy knows the score! everytime i get camera out he hides, he hates it, the others are to quick, :rolleyes:

treats, treats and more treats. lol I try to hold one right on top of the camera lense so it looks like they are looking at the camera.

What a good idea, I love the backdrop, and yorkies look so beautiful against red!

I found that adding supplemental lighting in the form of a small office lamp shinning towards Joey eliminates the green/red eye flash. I've read that more than any other thing, having enough light can improve the quality of your pictures dramatically.

Treats, toys, your funniest voice & patience. My boys hate the camera flash & always looks away at the last minute. Grrrr! Lol
So, I have treats in one hand, cam in the other & I make the goofiest sounds to get their attention. This usu works.
A new squeaky toy they haven't played w/yet also helps...they stare at it like: ohhhhh, I want dat toy mommy! heheehehe

Thanks, Nancy.:) That is a good idea about the lighting. I have a floor lamp that I will try using next time. I saw some pictures recently that someone took with a black background and the yorkie looked so pretty. I need to find me a black cloth and try that soon.

I was trying to take a picture for our Christmas cards last year, and I was getting glowing eyes, and just adding one small 60 watt light directed towards Joey did the trick, his eyes show up brown in the pictures instead of green. By the way, that is not his room nor a real bed, I did it all for a picture, some of us have lots of spare time! :D

OMG, that is a beautiful picture. It would make a wonderful Christmas card. LOL, I bet that did take some time to setup. No way would mine lay still with all that neat stuff around to get into.

Treats, or asking him "Do you WANT a treat?!" LOL.... Jackson's just a natural poser though. He kinda just looks at me with the camera in my hand like ugh, here we go again, Mom. Or I'll make a weird noise and sound ridiculous like "Boogabooga!"

The first picture was purely accidental... if only I could get him to smile all the time!

Lol, the trick to that picture was using babies pajamas that had feet in them, Joey wouldn't move in them; I could place him in the bed in any position and he would stay just like I posed him, I did give him a treat after every 5 or 6 pictures and he was a real trooper!

Those are wonderful pictures, very dramatic coloring. I love your use of accessories to make the pictures look more festive. That first picture is so perfect; it really does look like he's smiling!

I alway's just say there favorite Words like cookie Etc. When they really don't want to look I take some candy out of the candy bowl LOL it get's there attention.
Having a good camera help's Because it take the picture quicker than they can move.

I love these... you are going to have some amazing Christmas cards. Joey is such a beautiful boy.


I have trained mine that when I make a click noise they get treats, so all i have to do is click and they look at me. They will do almost anything for a treat;)

Good idea
I have some that like to close their eyes to the flash, so I think some additional lighting would be benificial so I clould eliminate the flash.

I have several backdrops that I use.

That is a good idea.

I make all kinds of crazy noises.

I'm going to work on the trearts and clicker.
