| ![]() Sorry to hear of poor dear Uni's itchies problem. If she were mine, I would try 1 dose of Revolution Heartworm/Flea/Mite/noseeums product before changing anything. She's tiny enough you could probably get 2-3 treatments from 1 dose. You will see improvement in less than 24 hours, if its external parasite related. I wouldn't bother with skin scrapings bc many times the vector won't show up. If her skin feels gooey or pastie and has a strong odor it could be a yeast or fungal infection, which could occur secondary to whatever is causing her to itch. Do you West Coasters have any type of sand fleas? We do here on the East Coast and they can be quite bothersome. If she may have rolled in something, you could try bathing her with Original (only) Dawn dish detergent, but be careful bc it removes all the natural oils from the coat, but will rinse off completely. We used it to clean sea fowl that got gunked up from oil spills at the vets. Just be sure to use a conditioner afterwards and don't use Dawn too often, as it can overdry the skin. Can you see anything on any of her hair? Use magnifying glasses if you have them. Usually if it's a skin problem, the hair would be damaged from the root, and would fall out. Allergies cause facial itching closer to meal times and front feet itching. Mites cause itching starting with ears, feet, chest, elbows, genitals, and tail and can cause hair loss. Is she losing any hair on or between her toes? Are there any tiny white flakes around the edges of her ears? (Use your fingernail to separate the hairs on the edges of her ears.) Biogroom shampoos have chamomile in them to soothe itching, but you could also brew some chamomile tea to use as a final rinse or spray on as needed. Is her itching worst at any particular time of day or night? Can't think of anything else right now...
