| Sorry, wasn't on yesterday, and yes Rabies is the only "required" by law shot, but I'm talking about distemper, parvo, etc. I don't get how TX can only make it needed every 3 years and in VA our vets say every year. I really wonder if they over medicate our pups for the $$$.

Texas did not do this. This is a recommendation from the AVMA. Yes, they have been over vaccinating pups! They changed the recommendation some time ago after researching this topic. If your vet is still advising those shots every year, ask for an explanation!

Bordatella which is given for kennel cough is every six months for the intra nasal...and every year for injections. That has not changed!

| I think your disease is contagious... everytime I am at the computer or a pet store or anywhere else I am looking at Yorkie and Morkie ads. Have an 85 pound lab right now to go with my baby girl Belle who is an almost 7 pound Morkie. My dh says he'd have to move out to the motorhome as Belle is more than enough. Lets weigh this....dh and lab in motorhome...vs.. me and tons of furbabies in the house! I don't think he has any ground to stand on. |

After the puppies get their 5 way shot (distemper, etc) the recommendation is for a booster 1 year and 4 months after the last shot. I usually do not do that but have a titer done instead to see if they still have the immunity. I just gave my puppies their first shots and gave Kalina and Matty their boosters at the same time - it has been quite a while for both of them but they were fine because I did titers on them. I do give my guys Bordatella because I take them to shows, etc. and there are a lot of sick dogs out there.
