Another concern if she did succeed in mating, is the possibility that she would end up having puppies on the larger size and difficulty in delivering them. I think you were wise to listen to her. I know a breeder that uses artificial insemination to breed her yorkies. Maybe that will be an option in the future.

Yes, he is too big. When my Maltese slipped under the fence duing a heat and came in 4 hours later all glassy eyed, I of course took her to the vet and he said "if the dog is too much bigger than her as the babies grow inside her they can actually split her open and kill her if they get too big. Now if she was bigger than you're boy, it would be fine and no worries.
Also, to register AKC Yorkshire Terriers, they need to fit inot the ACK standard of max weight of 7 pounds.
