| Thanks and what a first year! Just a quick post to acknowledge and thank all of you in this wonderful forum! As a (relatively) new Yorkie owner, I've found a tremendous amount of valuable information, tips and advice here. I always find myself hitting "search" when the next "strange thing" happens with Remy! And we've had our share of "surprises" It is wonderful that so many knowledgeable people dedicate their time, and patience, to helping those of us just getting our feet on the ground with Yorkie ownership In our first 14 months, Remy, the hubby and I have had quite a "full" experience, much of it aided by input here, for which I am grateful. If you think owning a pup will be easy, think again! Since we've been a little family, we've: - Strained our right hind leg muscle, and been on anti-inflammatories and pain killers. - Been to multiple vets, some who think we may have LP and some not (still not resolved to my satisfaction... I need to go to a specialist identified in VA with help from a YTer) - Had parasites from some deer poop we ate (!!), and had bloody throw up and... oh well won't get into the gory details Let's just say we are best friends with the little medicine syringe - HA! - Learned a lot about homecooking and had a lot of fun making (and Remy eating) all kinds of fantastic meals. - Made the switch to RAW with homecooking becoming our "treats!" - We got FLEAS! Badly too! Had to steam clean the ENTIRE house AND office! Dawn and I are now best friends! Itching, scratching (all night long!) and dry skin as a result... oh and we got the bonus Tapeworm! Seriously?! Yuck! (Note to self: never trust your friends when they say their boyfriend's dog does not have fleas...) Lest you think we are disgruntled, far from it. We are (now) happy and healthy. We are flea free. We just got a very cool new green hoodie from a YTer doing some closet cleaning. Thankfully our potty training was a breeze, although our daily routine now starts around 6am And to top it off, Remy has won hubby over, and his diplomacy has resulted in him securing a sleeping spot in our bed (something that was absolutely forbidden day 1)! Anyhow, its been an eventful inaugural year (and a few months)! Absolutely adore the little man and have been sooooooo thankful I found this place! |

Banning Thread Dictator Donating Member | Aww, you sound like a terrific Yorkie owner: accepting the bad with the good and enjoying every minute of it. Sounds like Remy is one happy and healthy pooch.
