| Peeing when leaving his crate I am starting to notice an undesireable behavior in my little guy that I don't know how to correct. Tazz is my 4 month old baby. He can be such a terror but I love him so much. He is crated overnight and whenever I am not home for more than a couple of hours. In the last week or so I've noticed that whenever it's time to let him out of his crate, he pees and then over on his back. Then he does not just come out of the crate, I have to literally take him out of it. He doesn't do this with my son or my husband and it's simply breaking my heart that he acts like this with me. | I am sure others on here would be much more knowlegable then me on the subject....but it sounds like submissive peeing. Since he does it when he sees you AND rolls on his back. Make sure you are not doing baby talk, high pitched etc that would get him excited when you come in the room to get him out of his crate. That way he wont be so excited when you walk in.

| Sounds like a combo of excitable pee (oh mommy I'm so happy to see you) and submissive behavior (he knows you are boss). My Peanut and Bandit will do the exciteable pee when I take them out of the crate also, but they don't do the roll over on the back thing. I try to be as boring as possible when I come home to take them out of their crates, but they still pee. They are young and I know they will outgrow this. My 8 yr old, Harley, did the exciteable pee & roll over when I would come home and he wasn't in a crate! He did this up until he was three yrs old although he was completely house trained. As they say, "this too shall pass"

| Peeing When Leaving His Crate Thanks to both of you for responding. I stopped all my chatter and simply opened the door and let him come out on his own. He's showing a big improvement and as you said 'this too shall pass." Thanks again |

| In addition to not talking, I would suggest that you pick him UP when you take him out of the crate and put him outside. This was he will not have a change to pee inside the house and realize that his place to potty is outside. Good luck!
