I think since it's the internet and we are all in different parts of the world our education, understanding and opinions will always vary. I know some people may feel strongly about certain things and others may disagree. Some may of been raised differently and those who feel so strong about something will never agree to what we may have to say. I guess you just need to be careful what you ask and how you respond. I've learned alot here and I am glad I have been here to get the help and advice I needed. Sometimes though I have gotten feedback when it was NOT asked of, or been jumped on when I wasn't looking for any advice. It hurts my feelings but theres always going to be those people who have to attack others sometimes to make themselves feel good I guess. Then again some of us are younger and some of us are older, this sure plays into some people's responses.

Nice way of hitting on both sides of the problem -- if there really is a problem. Usually, I don't perceive a typical difference of opinion as a problem. A little debate is healthy and I hope it never comes to a place where we don't have it. I would probably leave because then learning would stop. But I don't think there is any danger of that!

I know many like the idea of "nothing nice to say, don't say anything at all" -- but there is a problem with that. Many of us (me included) feel there is a danger in overlooking situations that are inherently dangerous to pets that have a right to deserve better treatment. If we allow a situation to be described here on YT and then fail to at least address what is wrong, aren't we giving a tacit approval to the abhorent behavior?

For instance, someone trying to breed a 9 month old girl, a tiny 3 pound girl, breeding with no knowledge and no money, breeding without regard to the safety of the pup, not providing adequate medical care, not practicing safe pet ownership ...what do you do? Ignore it, not post -- I think not. I feel I have a responsibility to say it is wrong -- not to call names, or try to belittle the person but to say the act they are committing is wrong.

In most states, knowing about child abuse and not reporting it is against the law -- as it should be. I think pet abuse should be the same -- we should all speak up when something is not right. At least let the uneducated and those looking into doing it themselves know that it is NOT acceptable. JMO and I respect that everyone may not agree with me. As long as they don't call me mean for pointing out a safety issue, an idiot for having a different opinion, or doubt my "spirit" for questioning a practice, I can deal with their dissent.

Deb, Cindy, that is exactly what i mean. People are always going to have differing opinions there is no way around that but I guess how I feel is state your opinion , advice, comment and move on. Because 9 times out of 10 there is going to be that person that wants to pick a fight. All I am saying is when it gets to that point someone should be the bigger person and drop it.

Jeanie That is true. I did research split heats back when Maggie went through one that was interrupted by her vaccine update. With Friday it is alot different. She barely swells and there is no blood what so ever but my boys are all up in her business for a few days and then nothing. However my boys are neutered but they did let me know when she had her first heat. It just goes to show you can read, research and talk to the more experienced but sometimes even thats not enough. You really have to want to get into this and not do it halfway. I am still learning Right now I have several books on notes alone with comments and advice and what i have read on here. Then there is the stuff printed from online research, Books and notes from talking to different breeders. I love this breed and have since I was 5 , I don't have alot of money but you can bet all my dogs are well cared for and spoiled rotten.

Anyway back to the topic, Everyone has a right to their opinion, and not everyone has to agree with that opinion. That being said I just hope that we can all be adult about it and not act like 2 year olds.

I used to talk on this site all the time. but I finally got so sick of the drama I had to stop. then when I did have an oops when i was away from my babies for the military and they were with my mother i tried to come here for alittle help and recieved none. I have been a member of this forum for a long time and have seen it at its best and worst and sometimes i felt there was more worst then best. I try to come back on every few months but it doesnt seem to ever change. first time i have been on here since i got to Iraq 2 months ago and this is the first post under general. This website will never change i think and everyone can say what they want but you have to have very thick skin to stick it out here.
