I'm such an idiot! Any helpful advice?
 

I sold a Morkie. A little brown female. I did not give a contract, the lady didn't ask for one and didn't take me up on the offer of a contract.

What happened you ask? She took the puppy last Sunday and called today to say that the female she bought is a male. HUH?! It took her a week to figure out the parts? She has a male and she couldn't compare them? I had four in the litter, 2 brown puppies, 2 black puppies. A male and a female of each. I wrote it down when they were born, as they were born. I weighed them at 5 weeks old and I had one brown male and one brown female. Not two brown males. Unfortunately, those are the only two times I wrote down that I had a brown female. I did send her pictures of the puppy and one was of her on her back which would show that she had no penis. Unfortunately, again, I deleted the sent message that contained copies of the picture and managed not to save the pictures on my computer. Sigh. The only proof that I have that I had a brown girl is the 2 entries in my ledger and 9 family members that live here.

She took the puppy to her vet today to have it checked for it's gender. Supposedly the vet said it was a boy. I am hoping there was some kind of misunderstanding of the wording of their sentences. I barely have a reputation as a breeder and don't want anyone besmirtching it. Since I did nothing to protect myself, I have agreed to see the puppy she claims to have bought from me. If it is my puppy, I will know it. If it is not my puppy, I will tell her so but I fully expect her to insist it is the puppy she bought from me and want her money back. Since I cannot prove I had a brown girl, I have offered her the other girl from the litter. I fully expect her to refuse the puppy because she wanted a brown female. At that point I will refund her money except a $50 deposit and the male will stay with me. If she does accept the black female, she will be leaving with a contract.

I stand behind my puppies 100% so I have never pushed the contracts. I have never had anyone try to do me dirty before. It has never been brought home so hard that the contract protects both of us.

If she is trying to do me dirty, I think she found a brown male and wants to convince me that I somehow made a mistake to get her money back. If she is trying to pull a fast one on me, if she takes the black female and ends up having 2 females from me, well it is a hard lesson to learn to protect my reputation. If that is what is going on, she will have destroyed my belief in my fellow humans basic honesty. At 55 years old, I have never had anyone go to such lengths to cheat me. I pray there is some other explaination. Sylvia

Find a computer geek or professional ... they may be able to recover your deleted email to the woman containing the photos. I have no idea what they would charge for that service but it may be worth a try. Good Luck!

Bless your heart you sound very concerned and I can imagine how upsetting this all is. I just wanted to tell you I will be praying for you and I sure hope that everything gets worked out, I don't anything else but wanted to just tell you I will be praying for your situation.

OMG that really sounds fishy. If you know you gave her a female then don't give her another. Give her her money back if you really want her to go away but do not give her another female. This could be a really nice scam how people acquire a lot of females for a mill start up.

Yes, but I'm hoping there is some kind of confusion going on. I am praying that she is honest. As far as the money goes, my husband is very angry and doesn't want to give her the money, a dog or even the time of day but I don't want her spewing venom about me if she gets angry that she doesn't "win" this confrontation. i tatoo all of my puppies and write it down on the AKC liter registration paper. that way if someone comes back later and says you sold me a puppy with ----& --- wrong with it, I can prove if it's my puppy or not. they change so much from a puppy to an adult it would be hard to prove without some kind of chip or tatoo, the chip is expensive and can be removed, the tatoo is cheap, cheap, cheap, I bought the kit on line for $20.00 I put 1 number in the puppies ear, not a ss # or anything because their ears are so small. You can use this in the future. Good luck with this woman.

YES! My husband and I were talking about this but I thought it had to be an ongoing number and couldn't see how I could get even a 3 digit number on one of those tiny ears. My husband suggested a permanent marker but if you have never tried one, let me tell you, don't bother. The skin cells on a baby seem to slogh off very quickly and in 2 or 3 days, you can't tell that baby from it's sibling with the same markings. go into your email inbox and look for a deleted folder....if you delted the email from you inbox chances are you didn't delete it from your deleted folder. check there first!!

Unfortunately, I have deleted several times since I deleted her email. I also looked in the sent folder and I have deleted in there since I sent the pictures to her. I am in quite a few groups and have had a HUGE backlog of emails. Things I wanted to save to give a closer look at later. And lately I have been digging in them quite a bit. I usually have 6 to 22 or more pages in the trash so I try to empty it on a regular basis. It might be possible for a compter geek to dig it out of the hard drive but I can't afford to pay anyone to do it and the lady didn't pay enough for the puppy to pay someone more to dig the pictures out. How were you able to email pictures if the pictures were not on your computer? I'd be searching for those pictures.

If you know you had 2 of each sex...where are the other puppies? Seems fairly easy to prove.

This sounds so weird to me, I really don't understand. Didn't the puppies have a vet checkup and first shots before going to the new homes? I just assumed that was what was normally done, and that the vet would note some info about the pups, and you could account for the remaining ones.

Obviously there is more involved for a breeder than I know. Just curious.

Yes and the ear can be cut off...and I assume painful for the puppy...:mad:

The pictures were on my memory card and I worked on them straight from it. I forgot to cut and paste them into a folder on my computer. I took more pictures on my memory card and when I worked with them I let it delete all the pictures on the memory card because I had forgotten that I hadn't copied them to my computer.

I had 2 black babies and 2 brown babies from this litter, one of each sex of each color. Proving it would be my word against her word.

It is all moot now. The puppy is the female I sold her. Needless to say, I wasn't the idiot I was afraid I was and they will be switching vets. Sylvia

I only do a vet check up if there is something wrong with the puppy or if I am shipping a puppy. I see no sense in both me and the new parent paying the vet for check ups. If my puppy is healthy then I know it, it only reassures the new parent that the puppy is healthy when they must take the puppy into the vet within 72 hours after buy it from me.

I do my own shots, tails, dew claws and wormings. I also do my own grooming. Sylvia

I'm not trying to be smarta**ed or anything but you know how things can be misinterpeted so I want to clarify this.

I assume you mean it would be painful for the puppy to be tattooed? I think it would be less painful than having it's tail docked or dew claws removed. I do both of these and look forward to the day when people will accept them as God intended them to be. Sylvia

Someone is lying here, there is no way that a vet mistook that puppy to be a male. My vet feels for testicles. :confused::rolleyes:

Actually, I think it was the office workers who looked at the puppy but even so, they should know the difference. I don't know how this couple don't know the difference but the puppy is the female I sold them. I showed them the little male I have who is the brother of the female and the black sister to them. Yea! Glad everything worked out ok, that had to be very stressful thinking what in the world are they trying to pull. Next time make sure they know you are from Missouri and tell them they will have to "Show Me" for you to beleive it....lol. Just a little silly Missourian humor! :cool:

She means the ear that is tattooed can be cut off the dog, thereby effectively removing the tatoo. My dog is tattooed on his inside right leg continuing onto his abdomen, not as easy to remove.

Believe it or not this happened to me. Sorta...My husband and I adopted a puppy from a home that was unable to take care of "him". "He" was a mess so I immediatly brought "him" home and started up the clippers. Imagine my surprise as I was easing around "his" pee pee so not to snip it only to find my "he" has a "she"! LOL:p All has worked out okay and it didn't matter to us, but the previous owners couldn't tell the difference.

I am so glad to hear your situation worked out. I guess now just be thankful for a lesson learned from something that could have been horrible. BTW, nothing is ever 'really' deleted from a computer. It can all be recovered if someone knows what thier doing.;)

I know that there are some people that are that ignorant, but not a vet. My vet feels for testicles, so even if the office worker happened to put down a male by mistake, the vet surely would have noticed.

Some male's have their testies up inside but you can still tell

No some people really do not know. I had a potentila buyer ask mehow I could tell.

Now kittens are difficult to tell, but puppies are very obvious. But if one has never been around dogs before, they really can be that ignorant.

For future reference if you are running windows you can do a restore back to the date that you sent the email and it will show up in the trash folder on your desk top.

Oh my goodness! I would never even think someone would do that! how shady and sneaky!! I would agree that hiring a computer geek to try and retreive the pictures is your best bet to save you =/ before you have them come out though, ask them if there is any way they can help...no need to waste money if all the messages are gone. Also check your trash box...:confused: I'm sure you probably did that already but that is my suggestions! keep us posted and good luck!

LOL I'm a displaced Arizonan and still learning the ways of Missouri. Actually, I did make them 'Show Me.' LOL I think next time I will just give them a contract and keep a copy. They can do what they like with the contract but I will have my signed copy. Sylvia
