"He has legs...let him walk" Is anyone else tired of hearing comments such as "He has legs, let him walk"? Why do some people think it's so horrible and cruel to carry your baby in your arms? It really bugs me when I'm carrying Mocha and people will say to me "Put him down and let him walk". Mocha LOVES being held and will happily fall asleep in my arms. But people will talk to me as if I NEVER let him on the ground and that he doesn't know how to walk! Does anyone else get attitude and comments from people when you're holding your dog? I pick him up and hold him whenever I feel that he would be safer in a particular situation, and other times I pick him up to just love him and cuddle him. What the heck is so wrong with that?! Just because he's a dog, I shouldn't be able to hold him? Whenever I see somebody carrying an infant or a child, I don't tell them "Your kid has legs, let him walk!" And that completes my rant for the day! :p Thanks for listening :D |
I do have that happen to me the worst thing is i get it from friends and family and i ONLY hold gatsby when the situation would be safer or we are moveing really fast or of course indoors like in stores because he loves to walk and gets agitated when i pick him up and he wines. thats when itsreally aggravating because i only hold him when he has to be held and he makes me look like a bad person |
omg I know what you mean!!! Its not our fault our babies LOVE US!!! I was rollerblading with Peanut and we came to the busy intersection 4 way stop, I will always always carry him when we cross... We are at the corner waiting for our sign to tell us we can go, and this guy on a bike came and said" What your dog cant walk" I said " um yes he can walk just fine, can you? He just looked at me and rode away!! Its annoying! I wanted to say I dont want him walking in the busy intersection..but what the attitude he had WHY BOTHER! Sometimes I think its better just to ignore them! |
Diva loves to be held and I hold her whenever she wants me to. She feels safer in my arms when a lot of people are around or if other dogs are around. My husband constantly tells me the same thing. I simply remind him that he also has legs and can walk away if seeing me holding her, bothers him!:p Diva is mine and I will do with her as I please. |
I get that stupid comment all the time. Little yorkies are fragile, and could be easily stepped on. Besides, they get tired. If I'm out for a few hours, she might be able to keep up with me and walk for the first couple hours, but then after that she gets tired and wants to be picked up. And I can't blame her. Besides, she gets her exercise at the doggie park, and on our daily walks in less crowded areas. Regularly, without fail. It's not aynbody's darn business what we do with our babies, as long as there's no animal cruelty involved! The most outrageous comment was when I was coming back from the vet, had just picked up Sushi after having spend a night at the vet following her spaying, we're standing at the lights to cross the street, and this B^*& says: "What a shame that on a nice day like this you're not allowed to walk, cuz you should be, you poor thing" !!!!!! Can you believe it?????? I got sooooo upset ....let's just say I let her have it for poking her nose into people's business!!!!! |
How rude! I have never had people tell me to put mine down, and mine range in size with Axl being my biggest at 12 pounds, Yumi is 5 pounds and then my Jeter is only 2 1/2 pounds. I do however have people asking why do I bother walking my pet RAT when I take them on walks:rolleyes: |

I dare someone to say something to me for carrying Toby in my arms. If people would keep their mouths shut we would all be better off. |

Kaji is a little scardy cat and does one of two things when he sees a big crowd or a bike, he hides under a bush, or he asks to be picked up. I wouldn't risk him being so frightened that he tries to run away (even when on a leash he tries) so I taught him to ask to be picked up. Now my dad thinks I pick him up way to much! He's told me to put him down, but when I'm not looking, guess who's holding Kaji??? |
