| No cuddles from my Yorkie. Ninja likes to follow me everywhere but he doesn't like to be held or picked up. When I reach down to try and pet him, sometimes he'll back away. When I try to pick him up, he tries to get away. This couldn't be normal...he use to cuddle when he was a baby. In fact, he use to sleep on my face when he was a baby! But now he'll sleep at the foot of my bed and then climb down to his own bed. Does it have anything to do with him not being neutered? Or is it because he's young and hes too hyper still? Is there something I can do about that or is it just his personality?

Luv my 7 Furkids Donating Member | Some are just more independant than others. Suki my first yorkie was like that as a pup. I can remember thinking all this time Ive waited for a yorkie and she doesnt even want to cuddle. Shes 7 now, she cuddles and loves but when shes in the mood, not when you want her to, but she is like a shadow. Shes the one that has to be on my lap anytime I sit. Hang in there he might get more cuddlier as he matures. |

| Zoe is kind of like that. She will , cry as soon as she hears our voices come in the door, follow us everywhere - wants to be right with us - but she is definitely "Miss Independent". LOL When she feels like "blessing" us with her affection - it's on HER time at HER will, not the other way around! |

| My Apple is exactly the same way, and it really is good for me to see that she is very much like lots of other yorkies out there...Being my first yorkie, I was totally surprised when she didn't come to me, when I called her, want to sit on my lap 24/7, and be totally submissive to me, like my other pups...It really upset me ...She's almost 11 months old now, and things are better...I absolutely adore her, and she adores me, but it is on her terms, not mine...Sometimes she wants to sit on my lap and cuddle (if she's really worn out), and most of the time, she lets me walk out in the yard and pick her up, w/o running away...I am fortunate, however, that she is not an annoying barker, she's housebroken, and very outgoing w/everyone that comes over...I guess it's just a yorkie thing |

| Looks like it's definitely a yorkie thing. Sushi likes the cuddles and affection only on HER terms not mine. Whenever she sees "appropriate" she comes and DEMANDS cuddles. But if she's not in the mood and I pick her up to love her, she looks like me as if I stink! Gets all wriggly and tries to get away. Sometimes she just gives me a quick "kiss" to get me off her case

YT 500 Club Member | My Angel was like that, the only time I ever saw her let loose was if I took her upstairs for some one-on-one time, then she'd bouce over the bed, throw her toy around and play chase the hand under the blanket. But infront of the other dogs its like she was just going through the motions of being a dog. She only relaxed when her mother passed away & she became more expressive and loving. |

| Glad I am not the only one that has this happen to them. My Fancie will sit there and look at me like....pick me up....and when I reach down she backs up. Although the minute she thinks we are going to bed, she will race us up the stairs to beat us to the bed where she will not move till we get up in the morning. Now Ryle dont really like to be picked up, but he does like to sit next to you wherever you are, he is a lap dog most definatly. He also goes to bed with us, but he wakes up very early. Nice to know that I'm not alone in wanting to cuddle with my pups, I just have to wait till they are ready. That's OK though. |

| I share your pain . Bonnie will not even look at me sometimes when I pick her up! Too much of a bother I guess. |
