does anyone vacum their dog? - YorkieTalk.com Forums

I know this sounds really weird. I have been told to vacum my pup daily as he has a lot of what seems to be dander. I just wondered if anyone on here has done this and if it helps. or is too fightening for the pup? I am having very bad eye allergies with him and at the end of my rope.

I feel like there are needles in my eyes. He is only 11 weeks old. He was eating Benefull at the breeders. I dont think that is a proper food and maybe it is why he has the dander.I asked on the health forum about fish oil as well.

I cant go on a lot allergy meds as they cause me heart palpitations. I will have to give him up if no kind of solution soon.

I am sleeping in my trailer tonight to get a break.I will do anything I can to be able to keep him.

All help is much appreciated

Vacumm? As in hoover? No way , Tia would be sucked up the tube lol She runs a mile when I get it out.
This is a dog we are talking about , not a carpet or a rug. Yorkies have hair not fur so are you sure its the dog you are allergic to?

Are you sure he meant vacuum the dog? And not just vacuum your home daily? I don't think any of mine would stand for vacuuming their hair, and I would not want to terrorize them like that.

Bathe them regularly, brush them every day, use an oil like(Grizzly Salmon oil, Derm Caps, etc.), vacuum your house ever day, launder their bedding often, make sure to use a good quality food (definately NOT Beneful), think about an air purifier, change air filters often and see if those ideas may help.

Peanut is scared of the vacum.. I dont see how any has done that one before..

Do you take allergie medicine?

Please check that it is the dog you are allergic to. A vacuum is very loud and will scare your baby.

Prince, no way...but I had a golden retriever who absolutely loved to be vacuumed!!! I had to put him in a different room or I would never finish. He would sit down infront of the vacuum and roll on his back...every time!
A small yorkie, omg!!! No way! My electrolux would suck him in!!

I wouldn't vacuum the Yorkies, but I DO vacuum Boo the Boxer and she absolutely loves it. When she was a pup, I couldn't get the vacuum out without giving her a once over

.

She was obsessed with the vacuum cleaner.

We also vacuum the horses. In fact, during the days that I was raising/training miniatures to drive, one of the things that I always did was to train them to accept the vacuum all over their bodies - except the head.

Just asking a quesion as I was told that you can vacum a dog to get the dander off of them. I was sure they must have meant a little hand vac that is not very strong not a hoover or an electrolux.

This was a person in a pet store. She said she vacumed her dog regularly and it helped with her kids allergies.

Hummm -- I'm not upset at all. I think it would be a terrific training opportunity (you would have to train Jackson to tolerate the vacuum) and perhaps it would help with the allergies. I would definately use one that has gentle suction, though, or you might injure him.

With the Boxer and the Miniature horses I used an Electrolux which had powerful suction. It was great to vacuum the dander and dust before parades.

Hi chattiesmum It is not Jackson that bothers me it is the little 11 week old pup with his fluffy hair that is giving me the problems. I cant take allergy meds ongoing as they give me heart palpitations.

I am a little desperate as I dont want to give this little guy up . We love him and have only had him a week.Just trying to find out any way I can to be able to keep him.

lol To be honest I did have the regular vacuum in mind, you wern't very clear , hence the reaction
.I kept getting visions of this ball of fluff being sucked up. Hand vacuum , thats probably different I havn't had experience with one.
