| Is he marking or just mad at me?????? This is kinda long but here it goes....I broke my foot 2 weeks ago and happened to be home more with Samson than usual, usually I work full time. Yesterday was my first full day back to work and when I went to take Samson out yesterday morning I looked over, as I was putting my shoes on, and he was taking a leak on the side of his portable crate!!!! Then when I got home yesterday he came upstairs with me when I went to go to the bathroom and I look over and see him hiking his leg up on the shower curtain. When I was able to get off the can I looked and didn't see any pee on the carpet or shower curtain so I figured I caught him in time and yelled at him before he started. Then I go into the bedroom and what is on my brand new sheets that I just put on the bed.......a big pee stain!!!! I was so pissed!!!!!!!! Then as if this isn't enough we are down in the living room and I see him sitting on the love seat and lifting his leg to pee on the blanket. Then awhile later I walk into the kitchen and there's a puddle on the floor!!!!!!!!!!! I take him out every time he starts barking to go outside and he always goes so I know these instances aren't that he just has to pee. He isn't neutered yet and I can't get him in until Oct. 25th. So is this marking????? When I take him outside he pees like 5 times on everything but he never did it in the house before. If he is marking what can I do until he gets fixed??? it's just one big pee party going on HELP ME!!!!!!! |

| Sound like the prime , marking age! Tell him NO,,so he knows that, maybe try the belly bands, also,,to save your furniture. Good LUCK,,see if the vet has any opening sooner.

I Love Thor Donating Member | Belly bands are a good idea until you get him neutered. I bet he is just marking! I know it is a huge pain in the butt! It should get better after he is snipped. |

| Gus didn't start marking till after he was fixed. The only place he will go is in my daughters room. It's always a pig pen in there so maybe he thinks it's ok to go in there. The girls don't even let him in there any more. Poor Gus tries to go in and all they do in point and say get out and poor Gus looks so sad as he backs up to leave the room. Now outside it's a different story. He will mark on everything! I would say to just keep on him. I never used belly bands but if Gus was having a problem I would get one real quick! Good luck to you. Hopefully he'll stop after being neutered

| I am going through a similar thing with TJ. When I first got him at 4 months it was a battle with the wee wee pads. I knew that he was still a 'baby-baby' at 4 months so I just trudged through it. And he really started to get the hang of the wee wee pads when I got the doggie little boxes. I have a few around the house (some are just make shift ones - rubber made wrapping paper tubs). Anyway, I also started a treat reward system for using the pee boxes. THAT HELPS BIG TIME!!! But just around when he turned 6 months, he started to get lazy when peeing, 1/2 in and 1/2 out. Sometimes he would lift his leg and other times he would just stand there and pee and then pee and walk too! Then for a week straight he peed on the corner of his crate. He would pee inside his crate, he would pee on his bed and on his blankets. He did all of these pee things on purpose and/or marking, I know,!!! Then at almost 7 months I got him neutered. All the pee problems stopped. UNTIL last week...TJ had a rough day of mucus poop and vomit (he has a senstive tummy and some digestive tract issues that we are working on to getting him better), well, that day last week for some reason terrified TJ, something made him scared, then when I got home from work I took him to the Vet (which he HATES), then the next morning we went back to the Vet and they took blood. A day later I come home from work and TJ decides he is going to pee every 20 minutes and he is going to pee ANYWHERE HE FEELS LIKE IT!!!! This went on for 2-3 days. I had to keep putting him in the box over and over and talking happy and postive to him to 'go potty' and then I enforced the treat rewards for peeing in the box BIG TIME. He has finally got back to peeing in the boxes and squating - NO LEG LIFTS and no accidents for a couple of days now. The Vet said he probaby was made at me...and/or marking too, even though his is neutered, if he had learned to do it before he could do it again! So, in TJ's case, I think it was a combo of being MAD at me and kinda/sorta marking??? Try a Treat Reward System and PRAISE him like there's no tomorrow when he does good. IT REALLY HELPS!!! Good Luck! Last edited by TLC; 09-27-2005 at 10:22 AM. Reason: wrong word |
