| Pennies in a can always worked great around here. Just fill up an empty can with some coins, everytime he barks, shake it loudly and say "no bark" or whatever you want to say. Water/squirt bottles can also come in handy. Jackson was never a big barker though so it may not work on a dog whose already got barking engraved in their head! lol.

| Barking is just bad behavior. Tell him to stop. The pennies in the can works So does backing them down, looking them in the eye and letting them know who is the boss. |

| He's barking that much he could be an overly demanding little guy who has learned that barking gets him attention . Their are behavioral technuqies that help in resolving this issue . He needs to be taught that he does not have to bark to get everybody's attention. I've seen Victoria Stilwell train a young pom who was a constant barker. It takes patience, however this can be achieved. Try to ignore the barking. Do not give him what he wants , until he quits barking, then reward him after he stops the yapping. My Suzi barks when she wants something really badly too. If someone picks up your dog, or pets him when he barks this only reinforces the barking behavior. He needs to be totally ingnored , and then rewarded for not barking. He will soon learn . Yorkies are very smart dogs.

| Train Him not to! He's barking alot b/c you are Allowing it......Yorkies are very Smart but they still need to be "Trained" in every area. You need to set rules for yourself what you will and won't Tolerate, we all have our Limits. I have 3 Yorkies and they all Bark for different reasons and times but 1 Bark from one of them will set the other 2 off. The barking is mainly to get my attention and if I don't react they will continue Barking until I stop them w/a voice command or hand command, depending on the situation. I just met a couple yesterday that were complaining that their 2, 8 yr. old Yorkies had severe barking problems and were driving them crazy, take heed my Friend.....nip it at the bud now, you don't want to suffer that long? Yorkies just love to Bark, it's like talking.

♥Tiny Tia my Furbaby♥ Donating Member | I don't think yorkies are barkers any more than the next dog. Tia hardly barks at all and I know a lot of yorkies that don't. Keep with the pennies in the bottle or failing that a water sprayer . Good luck , it will stop.

This absolutely works but I think they need to mature some to really understand that look. Pennies in a can and the look should be done each and every time they bark unnessiarly. Both works wonders for me. Leave the can on the table where he can see it. | |
