Stress piddler I bought a 2yr. old female from a breeder. She was moving into town and getting out of the business. The dog has had one litter previously. This dog is VERY submissive. My main problem is that she is a stress piddler. If she is scared or surprised she piddles. Otherwise she is well housebroken. Any tips for breaking this behavior? Once a dog has submissive behavior can it be changed? I have not bonded well with this dog. She is pretty and sweet but she just does not have the personality I like in a dog. Once I have bred her and weaned my pups I will probably sell her. |
:( poor baby , she has not had a very good start in life , my poppys the same age and i cant begin to imagine her going through anything like that :( i feel sorry for her |
I wish the dog could find a permanent home. |
Wow! Poor baby! Going from one place to another! And now after she settles in her new home, she will have to leave again! What a sad life for her, no wonder she is always stressed! IMO, I would find her a new home right now! |

I will give you credit for being honest, harsh but honest. Sad. Quote:

If you don't like the dog and her temperament, why on earth would you breed her?...I'm sure she'd make a great pet. And yes, there are ways to raise a dog's self-esteem, but it's probably not the quick fix you're looking for. That's truly sad. I hope someone rescues her from a life of being used. |

Sorry for being blunt but you came her honestly & you should do the right thing....find her a home where someone will love her and work on her submissivness/shyness. It sounds like she may have been mistreated. Notice I say 'may' have been mistreated - I'm not saying it happened ...but I'm sure she knows how YOU feel ....so I wouldn't count on correcting the behavior. manolos mom....that was pretty outstanding of you. All the best to this little dog. |
I too think it would be VERY unfair to the dog I do not think you should breed her. It sounds like this little lady has already been through more stress than she deserves. If you breed than you know just how stressful pregnancy can be on a dog never mind aalready having issues before pregnancy! If you dont breed than take it from the breeders here. Sounds like she needs an owner that can offer her unconditional love and not an owner that perfers a different temperment in a dog. She can sense your not liking her and probably will not do better. Manolosmom would be a great option for you to consider. |
ps. Most breeders who care think about the health AND tempermant of the dogs they breed. I hope you re-think what you plan to do. Good luck. |

This makes me so very sad for the dog! PLEASE I beg of you to take her up on her offer to pick the poor baby up. Then you should seriously look at your breeding business and why you are in it. PLEASE again, I beg you to think of the dog! Let it go to a pet home and not force breed her just for $$$. Is a few bucks worth your soul? :cry8: |
You live only 1 hour away from me. Please let me know. I'm off work tomorrow and would love to pick her up. |
It seems like people have used this poor baby for what they can get out of her. I have a beautiful Cocker girl who piddles, and I know it's because she is sensitive by nature. It's just a part of her and I love her unconditionally. I really hope this little girl finds a good home.......she's had such a rough start in life. I feel bad for her :( |
