| not exploring My new fur baby came home today and doesn't seem to have any urge to explore the apartment! all my other little ones have. He only seems interested in being on my lap. if i put him down, he sits at my feet. it's heartbreaking. i a=have a small place and want him to get to know it. is everything ok? |

| No worries... My Teddy Thy did that too when I brought him home. He livened up within a few days. He still loves my lap and he follows me everwhere LOL If I am standing, he will still at times stand between my feet. What is so shocking is he has become the dominate dog of my pack of 3

| Your furbaby needs time to adjust to his new environment, Rockie was the same way. He was always needing his own space though, he never wanted to be in my lap enjoy it while you can. He will soon be all over the place exploring and learning.

I would make him a little bed close to you - give him a blanket and some soft toys...and let him gradually start to explore. He'll want to be with you for the contact but don't overdo the attention ....just try to relax and enjoy the time he IS in one place. If he's young and came from a litter - he'll be missing his little puppy family. I have to laugh - I only have my 2 girls and am trying to sound like an expert lol .....but my 2nd Cheri was the really needy baby. She literally screamed when I tried to use a playpen for her to sleep in. Her first night home, I put her in at bedtime (she was very close to me) and it took (an hour maybe ?) of heartbreaking/window breaking crying - and I caved......Bless her heart.... she got louder and louder and LOUDER and my husband and I were like WOW - all that from such a tiny puppy..... I picked her up and boom - instant quiet.....All she wanted was to feel a warm body....she curled up right under my chin and has slept with me like that since. I didn't crate train & also don't advise letting them sleep with you if you're a heavy sleeper - but I'm not. Wish I was sometimes.

Donating YT 500 Club Member | Roxy was like that for a couple days too at first. She was pretty scared. It wasn't long though & she relaxed & started enjoying her new surroundings. Then... watch out, she kicked into full gear! lol. Give him some time to settle in. The day may come when he doesn't want so much cuddling, but you'll have memories. : )
