| I am so sorry to read this! I hope that Karlee is not the cause of your son and your allergies and hives. I will keep you all in my thoughts, best wishes!

| I live in KY as well and I have horrible allergies. They get worse as I age. ![]() I really hope that Karlee is not the cause of these outbreaks. Poor baby. If she knew that she was causing it, I know that she would try everything she could to stop it b/c I am sure she doesn't want to part with you. Let me know if I can help in anyway. Whether that is fostering for awhile, helping to rehome, etc. But lets hope and pray it doesn't come to either of those!

| How terrible your family is suffering with such severe allergies. Finger's crossed it's not your baby. Truefully I don't believe it is. With all the rain, dampness and mold around I believe those who suffer allergies are being hit extra hard this summer. My nephew suffer's bad with allergies and sinus problems. He's allergic to cat's and dog's. I spent last week with my sister and he was home. He suffered a couple of days but knew it was not Buddy because he checked the mold count on his computer and it was one of the worst day's ever it said. Two day's later he was better. Buddy never effects him but my sisters dog did, lab mix, when he was alive. My nephew could never visit my sister without suffering terribly. I would take up Sugarmom's offer for a week to see if all get better, then bring your baby home again and see what happens. To me that would be the only real way of telling. Good luck and I hope and pray all will be ok for you and your family and Yorkie to remain together. |

| I would definitely take the yt'ers offer and have her yorkie-sit for a week or so...that way you can see if the allergic reaction is really associated with Karlee(whether it be her shampoo or something else). To me it sounds weird that your son is having reactions at school also , unless he starts out not breathing well in the morning before he leaves for school and then it just worsens. I really really hope you find out whats causing these reactions. I'll pray that you find the cause and get to keep Karlee also!

| I have severe allergies and I have a question for you. I went through 2 years of shots and still take a pill and 2 nose sprays everyday (just to show how insane my stupid allergies are). I also used to carry and Epi pen. I have all environmental allergies, no food allergies thankfully. Have you switched your laundry detergent recently? If you have, try switching back your old kind. If not, did the maker change the formula at all? Believe it or not, I can only use one kind of detergent because if I switch, I get nasty hives....everywhere. My mom tried switching brands several times and I had similar reactions to your son. There is no test for laundry detergents, it is mainly hit or miss. It was so bad that I actually did a science fair exhibit on the effects of different detergents on people with allergies (geeky but it was serious for me). This was years ago and I am sure many more brands are now available but I am sticking with what I know until they stop making it. The only kind I can use is Tide Original Unscented. It costs way more than so many other brands but if it saves me from hives and other fun components of allergic reactions, I will use it. I can tell you love your baby but before you give her up, think about that.

I would advise NOT to use human shampoo on a dog ever! It is not made for their skin and hair and the PH balance could dry out their skin even from one use. Do not use this as it might give the dog an allergic reaction as well. Try another pet shampoo, possibly a hypoallergenic solution, but NO human shampoos!!

I use Era hypoallergenic detergent!! it's nice to have one that doesn't cause the hives, my mom used Biz on my clothes once and i got hives and then she didn't tell me about it, but used it again on purpose to make sure that was the cause of them and sure enough i was itching all over again, so now she uses tide or era which i can handle, but Era hypo is wonderful

| my aunt uses baby shampoo as well on hers and does well with it, i just wouldn't use some of the more "fragrant" brands of human shampoo because some of them might give the dog an allergic reaction to the perfumes |

Yes thats why I stuck to the baby shampoo, she would smell very nice after My mom uses Dove mostly and has been since Jan without any problems! Her dog is a tough cookie though and seems to have nothing wrong with her at all ever and she came from probably not a super great breeder.

| The pH of human baby shampoo is not correct for a dog's coat. It is formulated to remove cradle cap and can be even more drying than adult shampoos for humans. If you are looking for a hypoallergenic, tearless shampoo, Absolutely Natural makes an excellent one. Shampoo |

Almost all show people use human shampoo. the trick is to dilute it. I never buy pet shampoo. it is highly overated and much more expensive. i dilute about a tablespoon shampoo or conditioner in a huge 32 ounce cup. Anyway, i hope the OP gets help and gets to keep her dog.
