What a great thread  |
Debra, I am a newby and I have to agree with you. When joining a forum, I like to sit back, watch, read and get to know other members. Where as I agree, I have to say, I have seen insults from older members to the newer members as well for NOT knowing things they felt should be known. I read a long days post where a newby got emails from number's of members here because she used the term "teacup" Now, I have to be honesat with you. I was glad she did first becuase I am sure I would have stupidly made that exact mistake. I did not know any better. I was always raised hearing and believing there were "teacups" I had to9 ask in the post for someone to please explain this to me and I had few really nice members email me to explain which I truly appreciated it. If us newbies do not ask these questions wqhich to an experienced person may seem dumb, then how are we to learn? All I am saying Debra, is as a newby, I am hoping to gain the knowledge from a lot of people here (I really do love my puppy) and that is why I joined. Where I agree with you, us newbies should take the time to learn all we can from the more experienced crowd, I do have to ask that the older members please be patient with me as not knowing anything about the Yorkie breed and if I do ask a "dumb" question once in awhile, I apologize in advance. please forgive my stupidity. LOL, I am only here to learn all I can about my little guy so I can give him all the love I can as well as a very healthy life which he deserves. |
Great post Debra. :) Your babies have one wise momma! |

I haven't been a member very long, I've read and researched for longer than I've been a member. I read and researched awhile before I ever posted, and I generally try to stay out of controversy. But, to my knowledge, I've seen the seniors, at times knock heads against each others on some points...and they always do it 'politely' and agree to disagree...LOL but I have never ever seen one out and out insult a newbie...ever. They take the utmost care to go out of their way to avoid that at all costs. When it appears that come hell or high water their advice is falling on totally deaf ears, they will fall back regroup and try to be as supportive as they can of a situation that it is too late to salvage. And then there are those that have graduated beyond newbie, they have swam to the deep end of the pool, they have posted enough, participated enough to no longer be considered 'new' and they not only refuse advice, they'll even go so far as to state at the beginning of their thread that they don't want anyone's advice, and if, god forbid, advice is given they want to argue every single point. Well...that is a whole 'nother thread....and I think maybe that would be called ... game on :) anyway, excellent post Debra.... |
aaawww man....now you're taking away my fun. My next post in the breeder section was this new idea to breed my yorkie to a Puggle. I thought I'd call the new designer dog a YUGGLE....catchy yes ? Then I was going to come here at the last minute to ask what to do.....and get really snippy when I don't hear what I WANT to hear. Guess I better re-think my plan. . . . . . . FOR ALL who don't know me - I AM KIDDING HERE !! :p I have 2 spayed gay girls who are only interested in me and each other. Good post Debra  |
Nana, Thank you for clearing that up for me. I do apologize if I spoke out of line. I remeber that thread being one my first I read here. That is the thread I replied to asking if someone could please explain to me about the term "teacup" for I honestly did not know. That was the first I ever learned any different. Which a couple of the regulars here were kind enough to PM me with the answer. Which I appreciated. Hey, I learned something new. I was going to quit this site right after reading that LONG thread but decided to stay because of those PMS. When I first joined this site, I was so fascinated by the creativity, the information and all the time I am sure the administrators put into this site and seriously could not understand why anyone would want to fight on an online forum especially one such as this one. I think this site is great. I don't understand also why anyone would post and state they do not want any advice!! LOL, then why post it..LOL..I agree with you on that. No, I stayed and also stayed very clear of any "drama" threads cause I do believe in respect and did not come here to fight. Heck, I am hoping to find a couple of friends who love their babies as I do, hopefully learn as much as I can (cause I know nothing about the Yorkie breed) except that I sure do love mine. Share pictures and videos as well as laugh and smile at the ones I see. I see why Deb posted this. Heck, I have been afraid to post cause I thought for sure I would get all kinds of mean replies and PMS. Seriously. I do feel a lot better reading this. I think now I can relax, meet some great people and really have a good time here!! I'm glad I read this thread. |
nice post coltsmom....I've been here a long time and really don't think people 'want' to fight - I think it's more of differing opinions and many times - the way people speak. We are all different and that's what makes it interesting. It doesn't mean anyone has to be rude for sure A good tip is to use the search function when you want to know something and are hesitant to ask. I think every topic possible has been covered at one time or another and you can read all sorts of things and possibly get questions answered without asking. But it's always nice to connect to people & by asking questions....we connect. Welcome to the site. |
Great post Debra, one that was needed :) |
Thank you Debra! I have been getting irritated by a few posts myself! AND I say welcome to all of you "newbies" I am so happy to see so many of you posting on this particular thread. It makes Debra's words so much more rewarding! |

We all make mistakes, especially in the heat of the moment. I have had to apologize more than once. We are all much more alike than we are different. |
Thanks to everyone! I just want to thank everyone who has posted in this thread. It verifies our comraderie and committment to each other. We will never all agree and that is good but we can all respect each other and find common ground. You (meaning the collective membership) are the best! |

Debra. Great post. |
Great post! I have been waiting for a post like this! Very well said! I do not post often...but I am on here reading threads daily. I am still learning and forming my own thoughts/ways from my own experiences with my Yorkie girl and from this forum. I feel that newbies should be able to ask questions but should remain respectful and LISTEN to advice that they ask for! I have been shocked by some other people that have joined here and have only shown disrespect and ignorance! I'm glad that people like you and many others on here have stayed strong. Again, great post! :) |

Villette, you too are one wise lady!! I could go on and on but the list would be just to long with wise members that have helped me. I still think of myself as a newbe, so I hope the words sink in and the new people learn from this site and have a little fun too. :) |
Great post - just finished reading ALL 6 pages (it took a while) :) We all need a lot more respect in our lives. |

I appreciate this post, thank you! I'm learning a lot from all of you!! :D |
Great post Debra. I'm new to the forum and I agree with your statement. |
