| I almost lost it!!! Today I get home and I'm watching tv in bed and Capone jumps off the bed, which is no big deal he does it all the time. I give him a few toys and I start watching tv. About 20 minutes later I look down to check on him and he has dug a whole in my carpet! I'm so furious, this is the second time he's done this. At my last apartment I had to pay 1500 because he did this while he was in his exercise pen and he was only in there for 30 minutes. I felt partially responsible for not keeping a closer eye on him, but I thought he was passed that point because he hasn't done that in so long. In less than 20 minutes he put a whole in the carpet and I have to pay to get the room recarpeted, again. Just had to vent, I was so mad at him, now he's curled up next to me watching tv with me again. Has anybody had to go through this? Why would he do this, when I'm right here and he had plenty of toys. I thought they only did things like that when they were bored or lonely.

| Nope they sometimes do it "just because." Mine chewed a hole in the bathroom carpet. They actually pulled it away from the corner by the tub and chewed the edge. In this case we were able to repair it, by stretching the carpet a little more. A hole in the middle of the floor is more difficult but you might still be able to repair. How big is it? Can you get enough fibers from other places in the house and fill it in with some crafters glue? That will work for a very small one. If you have any scrap of the carpet, you can repair by getting some carpet glue tape, put it under the carpet to include where the hole is, fill the hole with the scrap, cutting it exactly to fit. Then set a hot iron over the carpet until the glue melts from the carpet glue tape. This is how they seam carpets and you can repair a hole so no one can tell. Course if you are renting, you might not have scrap available. Ask the landlord if he has any or can tell you the exact brand and name. You can tell I have always had pets, can't you? I've done a lot of repairs over the years.

| Yea I live in with my roommate and her mom own's the house. I'm going to see what I can do to have it repaired, hopefully her mom won't mind taking a small piece out the closet or something. Its about 3in by 3in, almost a perfect square. Should I cut all the way down through the padding or just the carpet itself? Thanks for your help!

| from what I've read, doing that kind of thing is just the "terrier way". My dogs cannot use pee pee pads because they end up shredded. I once made the MAJOR mistake of leaving a costco size pack of tp on the bathroom floor when Joey was in there...when I got home, my toilet paper count was down 6 whole rolls, plus chunks out of a bunch of others. Let me tell you, put out toilet paper with chunks missing, you have a conversation when you have guests over, haha! I also have towels that have been partially shredded, and any toy that starts with fur is eventually bald. Terriers like to shred, dig, and rip up anything they can...I do my best to keep all my shred-able stuff out of the mouths and paws of my dogs, but they still get to stuff from time to time. Isn't it crazy though, how even when they get in trouble, Yorkies just want to love on you and earn your affections back...they get in trouble, and they want to cuddle! I'm not sure if all yorkies are like that, or if I was just blessed with 2 angels. Good luck to you, I hope you don't have to replace carpeting again!

BANNED! | if its not in a perfect square, it might be noticable, you might have to cut some of the edges to make it fit the scrap, then just do what FlDebra said with the glue and iron. I have 4 ambuctious dogs, and they run around and chew on things, our newest dog, has chewed all of our corners in our house, so we have to get more drywall! |
