I think how much you spoil your furbaby is just about right! Uni doesn't wear too many clothes, but man does she have a lot of toys! So what if your doggy has lot of stuff? I'm sure your friends' kids have plenty of stuff they don't need, or even use! I see little kids around here like 10 and 12 years old with cell phones! What the heck do they need those for anyway?

You've got lots of friends here, and we're always up for a good rant! Well at least i am!

Hey, thanks! I am in Rockwall. However, there is a group of us that meet up. Mostly from the Wylie, Allen, Rockwall area. We just had a birthday part a couple of weeks ago! I would love to meet you. In fact, I am planning a Halloween Costume party for the pups! Come on over!!

hehe Thanks! OH boy, they have toys too! AND today, Walgreens (of all places) had the cutest most comfy beds marked down to 6.00. SO, I bought 4 of them. LOL Thanks for listening during my "rant."

I'm new to the forum, but I don't know that I would say that your "friends" think you are crazy. I may be wrong, but I don't know if they are your friends. Friends usually support us in all of our endeavers and sometimes our "craziness." Mine do, anyway. Keep the dogs and get new friends.

I vote you're not crazy. You're doing what makes you happy and that's what matters. The only other person whose opinion matters is your husband's and since he's fine with things, it's all good. Enjoy yourself!

The funny thing, they all have dogs and supposedly love them. However, their kids are their priority and to them their animals are just pets. To me, they are our family & they will get the best treatment that I can give them. If that means putting them first my my social life 2nd--so be it. But, I shouldnt be laughed at. They think it is funny when they say stuff, but it does get old. I am just ignorning them from now on.

So, last night I get a call from a friend about 9 pm. She found a dog on the hwy. (this is one of my friends who is CRAZY about animals but she is so allergic to them that her throat swells up and she gets whelps). Anyway, ofcourse she didnt know what to do with her.

We got her home about 12:00, we had to drive 45 minutes to meet Heather halfway. She is so afraid of everything. I don't know what happened to her out there, but it was something bad. I have to really spend some time socializing her before I place her in a home. She is so precious. She is mostly lab, but I am thinking she might have a little Pyrenese in her. Here she is....

Too cute!! You are so amazing for stepping in and helping this baby girl. I seen lab and poss. GP in the squared head. I have a GP, he's in my albums if you'd like to see the head thing I'm talking about. What's the tail look like? Curly and long fur?

Anyway, have to say Heck No! You are not crazy!!!! It's obviously bothering you that your friends say these things, you should be honest with them and explain that their jokes are hurting your feelings because you feel that are belittling your love for your dogs and your career choice. Explain that this is who you are and if they can't be more supportive then you need to look out for your well being and disconnect with them some.

I know people love Dr. Phil and people hate Dr. Phil, but one thing I heard him say has always stuck with me, because it is so true...."You teach people how to treat you." Meaning what crap you take from someone teaches them it's ok to treat you that crappy. So, don't get crapped on...stand up for yourself and tell them like it is!!!! Need more of a pep talk than that? Come to YT, we are here to pump you up!!! ( can you tell my neice is the captain of the cheerleading squad?) (((((((Hugs))))))))

Default You are a great MOM!!!

Hi, I understand how you feel about your friends. I have been telling my girlfriends about me getting ready for my furbaby as if I am having a baby. I have been preparing my life for her. I have even decided to start a home base business so I will be able to be a stay home mom. My sons are grown and on their own and I'm getting married next Spring. I think people are actually envious of the way women like us can let go of insecurities about what people think of us relating to loving our pet/children. I also believe people who treat animals with neglect or like they belong in the yard ONLY are selfish and lack love and understanding in their personal lives.

Keep doing the wonderful and loving things you do for your babies.

Ha ha. This thread is funny!! I get called crazy all the time, even by my parents. Well lets see here.... I have 2 yorkie fur-butts, my husband has his blue heeler, I have a filly that is 4 months old, 4 fish, 2 cats. And we will be adding my brothers dog to the mix (he's going into the army and needs someone to take her for awhile) she's a black lab/spaniel mix. And that is just our animals. Between my sister in law (she has 5 cats, a bunny, a bird, and 2 dogs) thats 9 animals in one house!, my mother in law has a dog (our blue heeler visits her grandma for a few days every week too) and 2 cats. So on any given day when we are visiting each others houses there are around7-10 animals running around.

And to think that I'm going to add puppies to the mix, and to add a possible show prospect to the mix as well. Many think I've gone crazy as well. I don't like to leave my animals for more than 2 hours (usually to go run errands around town) but my little girl is afraid to ride in the car so unless we are going really far out of town she likes to stay home.

Oh I forgot to mention that I have to babies of my own that keep me busy as well in my house. My three year old boy and my 5 month old daughter. No wonder why my house always looks like a tornado went through it. LOL. Between my yorkies shredding any tissue or paper left in sight and my boy with his toys, I'm suprised I can walk in my house.

I don't have kids, I am married to a person who equally loves animals. I am a Pet Sitter (Call Me Pet Sitter | Pet Sitting Services), so when I am not with my fur babies, i am with someone's dog, cat, horse, etc. I love my job because I am doing what I am most passionate about.....loving animals!

This past week, I took Baxter and Bayleigh to Happy Hour at Three Dog Bakery. I mentioned it to my friends, both on the phone and Facebook, and they ALL said, "I have gone too far & I am crazy". (their exact words). However, half of them mistreat their animals, I don't mean beat them, but they will leave them outside, not bathe them, feed them crap, never take them for walks & then get mad at them when they do something wrong.

I realize the needs of dogs. They need constant stimulating & they need to be exercised & played with as much as possible. Our dogs (my babies) have their own bedroom. When I am not with them, they are playing with their toys, or they are watching Animal Planet (yes my dogs watch tv).

I miss out on a lot of things with my friends because I don't want to constantly leave my animals home alone. I am OK with that, but again they make cracks, "Dana is the crazy dog lady and she won't be here." Now, I go out to dinner with them, but I don't feel the need for constant bar hopping, geez....I am 37 years old. My husband is in a softball league and he understands that I can't make every game because that would mean leaving our babies for a few hours alone.

Anyway, I am SICK and TIRED of my so called friends saying I am crazy. WHY? Because I don't have snotty nosed kids that scream when they dont get their way? Why am I weird because I dont have a desire to have children (atleast rightnow, and who knows if I ever will)? It is getting to the point that my friends make me ill because they can't keep their mouths shut! If you think I spend too much time with my animals, keep it to yourself. I am not interfering with YOUR world.

UGH. Anyway, sorry that this is so long. I just have to ask my YT Family, AM I crazy? lol

Welcome to TrilogyOnline Pets

If this means you're crazy then I'm right along there wich 'ya! I dont' have any children of my own either...so my animals have always been my babies. Fortunately my friends now that and while they may shake their heads from time to time at me they know that I don't care what they have to say cause I'm gonna do what I'm gonna do for my babies.

So to the OP your not crazy!!! Your just doing what you love and there is nothing wrong with that. I would and do prefer my animals and kids to that of other people.

People say I'm crazy and I just tell them I have a house full of crazy. That always gets them to have a puzzled look on their face. And I just keep walking by, but I wouldn't have it any other way.

So props to you and your love for your babies. There is nothing in the world like the love of our children and fur-babies!!!
