| Why is my yorkie so mean?? I just got a new pup, a boston terrier. I wanted to get a male yorkie, but I thought about it and thought I would hold off on my boy and get my boston. Well she finally arrived 3 days ago, and she is about 2.6 lbs, and shes deaf. I knew she was deaf from the beggining, I conversated with her breeder for over a month, and everything worked out great between us. I have been so excited about here, but not Bia. She doesn't want to play with her, and when my boston wants to play she growls and sometimes snaps at her, she is way smaller than her and I feel she is going to hurt her. She is jealous, and I do spend time with each of them equally. She just doesn't want to warm up to her, and I feel bad for my boston, because she is new and doesn't know. I love Bia and I really feel she is not as loving towards me anymore, since she sees me loving on my new pup. what shoud I do?? |

| It might be worth consulting a behaviorist for advice. |

| did they meet on "neutral ground"? bia is protecting "her home" and she sees the new puppy as infringing on her turf. . . It takes time for them to warm up to one another (my moms dogs HATED my yorkie, but now their dog chases him all over the place playing ) when she is not mean to her maybe you could give her a treat or praise? pet both of them at the same time and praise praise praise... honestly, with every dog i have ever had (we have had two at a time at ALL TIMES in my childhood and would introduce them when the other is middleaged) well anyways, we just didnt worry about it, we figured they would warm up to each other eventualy |

| You'll have to let them time to adjust first . |

| Graffy did this too when I brought Haylee home. Last night while I was cooking supper they started playing and chasing each other through the house. That was better than a Christmas present for me!!! I was worried that Graff would never adjust to her being here. Not to say they are the best of buds right now but we are alot closer to that than we were. Graff is my little abused yorkie that found me along side the road about 3 years ago and he doesn't like most people, but loves kids. He has more trouble with men than women so I figure it was a man that mistreated him so terribly. Hang in there I bet it gets better really soon. |

| It does take time. Get down on the floor with both of them, and some toys and trying getting them to play with you. |

What I did too was to play on the floor with both of them - a toy in each hand - and held them on either side of my lap till they both got used to each other - it took a good 2 months for them to really start showing they actually liked each other - Granted it's 2 yorkies but the little personalities are so much like kids that we just have to try to help them get to know each other in little ways - they'll do the rest on their own. Good luck with your new puppy and I hope they start getting along better - we want them to have fun and its hard when they are jealous | |

| They will adjust in time. When we brought Jewels home Chachi was so excited and would want to play rough. I was worried cause Jewels was so small but after that newness wore off he and she would get along great. They now have moments where they will lay a little rough but Jewels can handle herself.
