| Another grooming question.. My little boy is almost 2. When I got him his hair was tangled and scraggly so I got him a hair cut and changed his diet. His hair seems thicker/more shiny now but he HATES being brushed... I have a mini schnauzer so I went through this with him but it was easier b/c he is bigger. He finally gave in and just lays there. My little yorkie boy growls at me and snarls and sometimes tries to bite when I'm brushing. He will let me brush his back but won't let me come anywhere near his face. I have even tried just getting him used to me touching him around his face and he is SO FAST to get away from me. I can get a pony tail in him (amazingly) but it's out in 2 seconds... Also, he has thin hair on his head so is it better to keep him long or short with thinner hair? I'm pretty sure he is the silky type as he has not matted at all since his hair cut... just a tangle here or there after some rough playing. Any advice?? What tools should I be using on him? I used a slicker brush on my MS but then i brushed it on me and OUCH! I also have a metal comb looking thing where the prongs rotate? |

| Welcome !! Welcome to Yt !! I got my all these expense combs, brush and finally I stared to use a comb I use to use on myself, a middle teeth comb for thick long hair. And it work and they both sit there and get comb. Growls, smarls and bites r a no no in my house. He needs time out every time he does this , I use to put my in a cate for 1/2 hr and not play with him for a while, he needs to know that's a no no . I also use a leave in coat conditioner on both on them. I use it after a bath and also between bath to keep them groom. bark@ulater!!!! manina, miley, max |

| Hummm.... You are using the right kind of brush.... it seems like he just hates it being done. When my wife went to brush our boy he hated it but like you said he did however grow out of it. If you do not mind keeping his hair shaved (and just throw a shirt or something on him when it cool or cold) you really should not have to worry much about brushing. Just keep it shaved off and go to a soft brush and try getting him use that way if still no luck just keep shaving.......but he should get use to it sooner or later.

| Thanks! He's not shaved right now and brushing his body is not really an issue (anymore!) but his head is what is the issue and I don't want to shave his face... I'm slowly working my way forward on his head and he'll give in after a minute and lay down as flat as he can.. as if to hide from me? haha I'm just worried he won't get used to it like Bentley did b/c he is already older and I got Bentley when he was six months. He also HATES baths... I guess it'll just take lots and lots of work... I've been doing it daily hoping he warms up to it sooner rather than later |

| My yorkie LOVES her brush. I'm not kidding. We use the Chris Christensen pin brush, and we use a Madden comb. If I use any other brush, she gets mad at me, but she loves that Chris Christensen. I've tried it on my hair and my daughters hair, and it is an awesome brush. Well worth the money. I use the 20mm Pocket/Toy brush HERE but I'm sure that any of these brushes would be great to use.
