| Bad News We carried Ruby back to the vet yesterday to have her incision checked and her bandage changed. The vet came back in the room with her and told us she knew why she was having trouble getting it to heal. Ruby has a Mast Cell Tumor. It is the kind with all the fingers that network out to other places. We don't know if it actually has or not but the vet said it is an aggressive cancer. She put her on a holistic treatment called Neoplasene. She said she has had great success with it. It gets mixed in her food twice a day. She can't have anything but cooked food. No treats, no dog food, and water only at the two mealtimes. The main concern right now is getting it to heal. Apparently that could be a very long process and may not happen completely. I just can't believe this has happened to my precious baby. The tears just won't stop. She is only a baby(7 months). How could this be? |

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | I'm so sorry to hear this, I know you must be devestated. Have you thought about getting a second opinion, for anything major, I think it's always best to get a second opinion, not only on diagnosis, but on treatment options. Anyway, you and Ruby are in my prayers, best of luck!

Phantom Queen Morrigan Donating Member | oh my... i'm so sorry. i've never seen a baby get mast cell before. I've never heard of neoplasene before. Did you also discuss regular chemo for her as well? did your vet take an x-ray to determine if its spread anywhere else, like her chest? if not i'd request that.

| To tell you the honest truth, I was pretty much unable to ask anything after I got that news. I hardly remember what the vet said. It's a good thing my husband was there. I had to come home and try to process it all. Now that I have had time to think and do some research I do have more questions. I trust either of the three vets in that office. They are all smart and compassionate. I wouldn't go anywhere else. |

| I am so sorry!!! I can feel your pain and sorrow. I have had two dogs with cancer in the past and after putting them on a holistic foods and diet they survived another two and a half years. They weren't expected to live more than six months. They were much older and did that well. Your little girl is much younger and I have heard that when they are younger they can fight and over come cancer with treatment. I pray this is the case for your baby. You'll will be in my prayers. |
