Yorkie Yakker | Growing My Yorkie's Hair Our puppy Penny is 10 months old. Her hair is only few inches long. I know it takes about 2 years but do you need to get a trim to keep the hair healthy?

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | Yorkies with silky coats often grow slower than those with cotton coats. I use to keep trimming the bottom layer, so it was all once length, but I think this makes it take that much longer to get the illusion of long hair. I personally don't think you have to trim it, and Joey never got anything that looked like a split ends. Although many people say that product X helps grow the hair, scientists say that the rate and length of hair is governed by genetics, although certain products and suppliments do help the hair stay healthy and less likely to break.

Yorkie Yakker | Good to know! Penny just went to the groomer and she advised us not to trim as well. Our groomer just did sanitary trim, gave standard yorkie ear, and paw shaved. It turned out great!
