| ![]() I swear someone would think I beat Jemma. She startles so easy. She's always on my lap. If I move my hand to scratch my head, she jumps. If I turn my head she jumps. It seems like she startles so easily. I have never ever hit her. Anybody else's baby do this?? It concerns me why she is like that. I did get her when she was a pup so no abuse there. Good breeder, kind gentle. And Jemma is a beautiful pup. No barking, finally going on her pads, except she likes to carry her poop then drop it anywhere, grrrrr. I'm proud of her. She's a good girl. Loves people and kids to death. She sleeps every night with me. But my son came up for a visit and she wanted nothing to do with me. She slept with HIM every night. Then my daughter came down to see her brother and she slept over too. Jemma was going back and forth all night sleeping with each of them. But she never once came to sleep with me, hahahaha, little beach. Anyway back to topic. Does your furbaby startle easy??

| ![]() yes...my Dustie startles easily too. especially if he is napping...and all is quiet..then a sudden noise..he jumps and gives a shrill bark....very funny really...as he doesn't bark much at all really..and it usually makes me jump too when he does... He also makes me laugh...when something on the T.v. is a bit loud or frightening he jumps on to my knee..looks at the T.V. and gives a little growl..very funny really...but he really doesn't like scary movies at all...He will go off to his pen..!!! | ![]() Nah, Jackson doesn't really get startled that easy. A few things will startle him but he definitely doesn't get startled easy. The only time he wigs out is if he's fast asleep, and all the sudden someone opens the door or something, then he freaks out for a quick second but goes back to normal, lol

| ![]() Oh yes and I laugh all the time at Buddy. When we're outdoors for a walk if he hears something in the bushes he jumps a foot or sees a but he jumps another foot. It seems only outdoors is he jumppy! Indoors when it thunder's and lightening in a storm he dosen't blink an eye! As big as he is he has all the mannerism's of a little yorkie. ![]() |

| ![]() Buster & Bailey don't startle that easily - but they used to. They used to run whenever I'd get a pan out of the cupboard or run the vaccuum, but now they actually peek their heads around the corner to see what's going on. They have a couple of qwerks though - they are petrified of any ball that is bigger than a tennis ball. I took my big blue exercise ball out a while ago, and they jumped into daddy's lap & shook/shivered the entire time until I was done with it. Same thing with a nerf ball that was about as big as a fist. I've tried it a few other times, and it's the same reaction. Nothing bad has ever happened to them with it, they are just scared of it. They also used to be very afraid of plastic trash/grocery bags if they were ever floating around outside on the road/grass, but are getting better at understanding that the bags won't attack them. We've had Buster & Bailey since they were 11 weeks old, so I don't know where those fears came from, but I think all puppies & dogs have their qwerks!

| ![]() Peanut is 2 years old and he does get a little nervous at times..Esp when I vacum he will sit in the corner and shake, if I am loud in the kitchen with pots and pans...he will shake..Little things like that...I think its more like a nervous scared..but when I mop or sweep he is the baddest toughest boy in town!! He will attack the mop or broom and bark lol ! ![]()

Thor's Human Donating Member | ![]() Yes, Thor jumps at everything. He's terrified of my purse. He hates being leashed when I'm wearing it. I think it's common in the smaller dogs - he's 4 lbs. I believe generally that jumpy dogs are under stress, and stress is hard on the body, so I hope to work on it with him. On the other hand, when you are that small, you do have to be careful. One stray foot and you will be airborne! I think if you find your pup just shaking for no reason, you should be concerned. It's not good to be nervous like that all the time, mentally or physically. I would check to see if they are getting enough exercise and go from there. Before I owned him, Thor looked like he drank RedBull every day, and more exercise helped a lot. He very rarely shakes now.
