| limping about 1 hour ago my baby Poppy started limping, she isn't using her back leg. I have checked it by moving it (this doesn't worry her) she is licking her foot. I've had a look but can't find anything cos of her hairy toes. she doesn't make any noise when I touch it, she wasn't running about when I 1st noticed it. any ideas about what it could be |

| Was she outside recently? I had the same thing with Sophie about a month or so ago and it turned out we think she either stepped on a bee or some time of biting bug. I ended up calling the Vet and we did some Benedryl just in case she did step on a bee/bug to ward off any reaction. She was fine in a few hours and walked fine on the leg. Just a thought......

| Im trying to remember if she had been outside, our backdoor is open and my other little monster (Chihuahua) is running in and out, but I think Poppy had been lying on the sofa most of the time....I've just bathed her foot, but she didn't react in anyway at all. she managed to get up the stairs and back down hmmm now I'm stumped. |

| Probably is Luxating patella. Your vet can diagnose it. If it's a low stage surgery won't be necessary just some supplements. Good luck |

| One day I notice Piper carrying her back leg and I checked everything leg, knee, foot and she didn't seem to be in pain. A little while later she seemed fine. After a week she was still carrying that leg once in awhile during the day so I brought her to the vets. She was x-rayed and I found out she had Legg Perthes disease and she needed surgery on her hip.

| Piper had her surgery at the end of December and she is 100%. We take daily 3 mile walks.

| I would definitely get it checked out, but don't stress yourself out too much until you get a diagnosis. Dogs can pull muscles and get sprains just like we can. He might have moved wrong or jumped and landed on it in an awkward way. A few months ago, Miles started limping, and I was so scared (I believe I posted a forum, also!). After a few hours, he was fine, and he's been fine ever since. In the mean time, just check in between his toes to make sure nothing is lodged in there, and press lightly on parts of his leg (he'll let you know if it hurts). |

| Earlier this week my little one kept lifting his leg up and using his other three, it was so sad to watch. He didn't squeal either and he has done it on and off for the past 2 days. We finally took him to the vet today LUXATING PATELLA! His knee is dislocated and pops out every once in a while. He is on meds to reduce swelling and he has to lose 1 lb. Check into this!
