				   | Hello all. My name is Mare and I am a new Yorkie owner. I came accross a situation this weekend, long story and now I have a 2.1 lb 4 year old Yorkie in my lap. My life has changed alot in the past day! I'm going to get in touch with my vet today and have done alot of reading. I am both nervous and excited about this little girl. I would never promote breeding this small, but she needs a loving home as her Mom is terminally ill. This little girls breath is so bad i can smell it from ground or lap level. I will set up for cleaning but fear there is a bigger problem. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance! Mare |

				   | Her bad breath is most likely from her teeth. She is so luck to have you. If she is not spayed, please get it done ASAP. WELCOME! |

				   | Welcome and Congrats on your new baby! I'm sure your vet will be able to tell you more about her teeth/breath- I will hope that a good cleaning and good diet will be all she needs. You might browse the diet/heath section for information about high quality diets and different products/methods for keeping teeth healthy- and helping with her breath. I am considering changing to a raw diet cause I hear it helps with their health overall and is good for their teeth and breath. I'm so glad she is with you in a good loving home. I can tell you will be a great yorkie mom- cause you are already on here educating yourself Can't wait to see some pictures of your new furbaby!

				   | Thank You so much for the warm welcome!! I so appreciate it. She is doing well and surely loves to be sitting on my lap (as she is now). I'm going to bath and groom her up a little now and then will take and post pictures. I am calling around to a few vets now. I would rather her be mildy sedated as opposed to being fully under to get her teeth cleaned. I am not having luck so far. I am nervous to have her put all the way under due to her weight.. lord knows accidents can happen. She is spayed. My havanese are staring at me wondering why she gets all the lap attention! It is amazing with my havs, they know she is much smaller and treat her very gently. They are great. They do love answering her pee-mails! Ok, pictures to come soon! Thank you again. ~ Mare |

				   | Hi all. I posted a picture of Cricket in the photo section. She is really cute and likes to be groomed! Her breath still stinks to high heavens lol. Still no appointment yet. Will let you know how I make out. Cheers, Mare |

| Donating YT 30K Club Member | That is great you took her in. I will look for her picture. I had my 3 year old 3 1/2 lbs teeth cleaned and what a difference it made. She also may need an antibiotic to clear up any infected gums. Keep us posted.

| Donating YT 30K Club Member | Yes they put her under but it was for a short time. She had to be on antibiotics 3 days prior to surgery and 5 after since her gums were so bad. She has hereditarily bad teeth and gums. She had to have 5 teeth pulled. I should hve done it earlier but I was too afraid. Now I brush her teeth every other day and it's been a year since her cleaning and her teeth are pretty good.
