Donating YT 500 Club Member | Roxy's hair is slow growing too compared to many. She's got a silky coat, which I've heard usually grow slower than the cottony coats. Don't know if it's true, but that's what I've heard. Make sure she's on a good diet. I hate having to be patient, but it's kinda working out OK as I'm slow at deciding what kind of haircut I want her to have. Need to figure that out before a groomer has a chance to screw her up. Have seriously been thinking of grooming her myself. I've read so many groomer horror stories that I'm not sure I trust any of them. Yes the hair grows back, but when you've got a slow grower she could be messed up for months & months.

| I would get a pretty good shampoo and conditioner and keep your furbaby brushed. Rockie is a cottony and hsi hair grows so fast.

| Just keep it clean. Shampoo with non-harsh type and condition. And never brush a dry coat. We mix condition with water and put in a spray bottle. Mist coat and then brush for in-between shampoos. What does your girls coat look like now? Pictures would be good to see. Last edited by topknot; 08-09-2009 at 05:55 AM. |

| Here is my girl back a few months ago when she was 6 months. Second one is of her at 7.5 months and last two are now at just turning 9 months. I am just washing her and conitioning and that is it. For now. It takes time for their coat to grow out. The hardest part is waiting. I placed her photos on here to show how the coat is growing and hope it helps to see these. Yorkies coats grow for each one, depending on them. Some grow faster and others slower and some yorkies coats do not grow at all. |

| No, she never mats. She has a lot of coat and her hair is like her sire's when he was this age. Her sire is pictured in my Avatar. Just a lot of hair. She can go past a week and still her hair never mats. |

| Here she is and you can see her coat on her face shine. She still has her puppy fluff growing out on her body, but you can see here she is breaking now alone her back. When I washed her just before these photos I just used shampoo and no conditioner to see how it was looking. And then blown dried and I fluffed her paws up by brushing backwards before the photos. JMO - if you take yours to a groomers, some of them can strip the natural coatings/oils of yorkies' coats, since they are not like otehr dogs coats. SOme of their products can be quite strong for yorkies' coats. Last edited by topknot; 08-09-2009 at 07:35 AM. | |

| I also like to sometimes use "Herbal Essences long term relationship." It comes in a red pump bottle. It is great for the coat and getting mats loose. I have an older neutered pet male that is 12 years old and he has a cotton coat, so I know what you have gone through. Here is a photo of him. |

| Wow, I'm really late on my response...sorry. Thanks Tina for the tips again, your pups are so beautiful. I'm going to send you a pic of Rocsi. I'm not really sure what type of hair she has...but it does matt at times. What oil treatment do you use?
