| Pee'n on the coffee table What is up with my 8 month old yorkie peeing on the coffee table. I just don't understand what is going on with my yorkie. The love of my life. Is this normal behaviour? Any ideas from what might be going on in his little mind, would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Catherine |

| Oh no, that doesn't sound good. Your post really made me laugh but I am sure you aren't too happy. Could he be marking? That would be my guess.

| Yep! on top of the table He is jumping up on the coffee table and peeing. At first I thought he was marking the spot, but it is without a doubt pee. I think he is going mad!!! I thought of a "SHRINK"....but, thought I would try this forum instead. If his dad finds out he is doing this he will have a fit! I need a quick fix. Someone to tell me what's up with him. Thanks again |

| I am speechless to. He was great for the first 6 months. He was born to pee on paper it seemed. I was impressed. A few months ago....he just started to lift his little 1/2 pound leg and go where ever he wanted after I started to try and train him to go outside. I tired the treat thing. It got better. Then those little puddles started showing up on the coffee table. Mmmmm! need help before the hubby come home tomorrow. He will be having his beer, peanuts and a dash of pee infront of the t.v. |

| You didn't say if your pup is neutered. I had my fill of Cooper and him marking my house all over the place. I called Monday to make an appt for neutering at the first available appointment slot. He goes on Tuesday! I was debating whether to neuter or not . . . I had enough so its neutering for this young man. His canines just cut so we're in business. Lisa

| If he's not neutered do it ASAP. My boy Cookie was perfectly paper trained and around the same age as yours he started doing the same thing. Cookie even jumped on my chair, jumped on my desk and peed on my printer! Yes my printer. Then my dining room table .I got him neutered and within 2 weeks he stopped. It's not a gauranty but this usually helps a lot. Genie |

| My little six month old boys are marking everywhere! Yesterday I was all curled up in the char with a blanket throw on top of me and Charlie jumps up on me and cocks his little leg on my FOOT! We are going to have them neutered as I asked the vet yesterday if that would help and he said most definitely! Thank goodness for washing machines

| Thank you so much for your responses. It sounds like the clip and snip is the way to go. When you get your dog nutured, it would be great if you can post any positive results. Before and after behaviour on male dogs who pee anywhere and in unsual spots. I felt very alone in this. And if nuturing works, then that is certainly the solution to a very disturbing peeing problem. Unfortunately, I am going to have to wait till I get back from my honeymoon next week. Thanks Catherine Hugs to all of you who responded |

| Belly band your young man. Use a sock with safety pins for the time being! It has definitely helped Cooper's problem. You may want to call now to make your appt for when you return. Its better than calling when you return and having to wait another week or two afterwards. Lisa

| I would guess that he is marking. Luckily for me Samson does his marking outside. He walks around and lifts his little leg on everything!! Why your little boy chose the coffee table....who knows!!!!! About a month ago I looked over and saw Samson right in front of me tinkling on the ottoman but he hasn't done it since. We can't get him in to be neutered until Oct. 25th so I'm crossing my fingers that he keeps it outside. |

| Sounds like marking and a dominance play. He sleeps in your bed, doesn't he? Marking high places is particularly prestigious for dogs. That's why they hike their legs when marking (my poor pup gave up, realizing that it didn't help much to hike, lol). Still they can squat and mark...urine is what they mark with. The only other thing I can think it would be, is that his pad is really nasty and he doesn't wanna step on it (my dog play's hop-scotch to avoid his own urine), and that the coffee table behavior is an attempt to get your attention... Don't scold...whatever he's doing, he's got a reason. Find it out and you are golden. |

| He doesn't sleep in bed with me. He does have a few moments with me in my bed before I put him into his bed on the floor right beside me. He is a 4 pound toy yorkie. He pee's on the coffee table when I am upstairs and can't see him. And trust me, he gets plenty of attention. I guess if I were to find out what marking spots really does mean. |
