YT Addict | Hair breakage... hey everyone i was wondering if anyone else has a problem with hair breakage. I have two little girl yorkies and i put bows in their hair. one of my girls wears them well and really doesn't have breakage. but my other girl will rub and rub and rub till her bow is out and it breaks all her hair off. i use latex rubber bands and was wondering if their is a product i can use on them to protect the hair? i am a hair stylist to humans and specialize in updos. im not putting the bows it in too tight or sloppy. i also heard of some kind of tool to put bows in anyone know how it works or where i can get one. thanks Last edited by inabowbina; 07-29-2009 at 07:29 PM. |

♥Tiny Tia my Furbaby♥ Donating Member | having the same problem although Tia doesn't try to take them out but she is looking a little thin on top. Like you I use the latex bands that are not meant to break the hair also. Im leaving the bows out for a while so as to give her hair a break(excuse the pun lol)

| Here's a little trick that I do when the latex bands start breaking hair. If you have a hot glue gun, you can just buy the really tiny claw-clips and use the hot glue gun to attach little bows to them. Then you can just clip them in and they look like a latex band bow, but without the damage. Sometimes your dog will be able to scratch them out, but Roxie stopped after the first couple times I used them on her. And, they're super easy to adjust, unlike the hair bands. |

| For daily use, to keep her hair out of her eyes, I use tiny little scrunchies for Yogi & Gracie Ruth. Also, before G's hair was long enough for the scrunchies I used these small metal clips. You just bend them a little and they pop open. I still use the latex bands when I want to put an actual bow in her hair.

| I like the tiny baby scrunchies, too. Or, I found some baby pony tail bands at walmart that are cloth cover elastic like these Accessories - Ponytail Holders - Elastics I also really like the mini claw clips. I usually have to put a latex band on then clip the claw on over it, but it really helps them to keep from pulling the band out of their hair.
