Here's a little trick that I do when the latex bands start breaking hair. If you have a hot glue gun, you can just buy the really tiny claw-clips and use the hot glue gun to attach little bows to them. Then you can just clip them in and they look like a latex band bow, but without the damage. Sometimes your dog will be able to scratch them out, but Roxie stopped after the first couple times I used them on her. And, they're super easy to adjust, unlike the hair bands.
