Can puppy start walking without shots?

Yes they are great! Princess has a pink one. I bought it so Princess could walk with me when I was training for the Avon 3 day walk. We had to walk over 5 miles a day for months. She loved the rides, and I loved having her with me.

A member on another forum nearly lost her little Tucker to parvo. He got it from his own backyard. Loose dogs in the neighborhood used his backyard for their bathroom.

BTW, Tucker had had all three parvo shots, too. They were started too early, though, so they weren't effective. If they are started before about nine weeks, immunities the puppy gets from nursing block their effectiveness.

The last vaccine should be given between 16-18 weeks.

yes there are leash laws in my city. Plus there are never any stray dogs or cats running around. Morgan got her vaccines at 8, 12, and 16 weeks. No problems here.

Common sense should be used. If your backyard isn't fenced and other dogs have access to it then of course one should be careful about letting their not fully vaccinated puppy in the yard.

That wasn't directed to you as I know Morgan is an adult now. I was asking the OP if there was a leash law in her neighborhood so she would know if her backyard was safe. Sorry for the confusion.

My vet had advised me against bringing them out until they had alll there shots...I would take them out in our backyard but, their feet never touched the ground. I have woods behind my house and wild animals come into our back yard...I don't like taking chances...I'd rather be safe than sorry...My girls are UTD on and when I bring them to the vets I STILL don't put them down.

My vet told me to wait untill they were done with their 3rd set of shots but I waited untill they were done with all of them

I have a fenced yard so I let my babies out to play in the yard. I always carry them at the vets and the pet store. I only let them out on walks after they are fully vaccinated. I don't want to risk it. Until then the yard will have to do.

I feel as long as you have a fenced in yard it should be ok.

I quoted you because your post was excellent. I just wanted add that about making sure loose dogs didn't go into her backyard.

What a great post! Too many times I see people walking their young pups around and I never thought twice about what could happen to them until I read this post. What a great question.

We get our pup toward the end of September and now I will think twice before taking the pup out in public.

I do have a fenced in yard and I think we have a leash law but I have seen a few of my neighbors' dogs get loose. Over a year ago, the puppy next door dug a hole under the fence and got into my backyard, so I guess even if you have a fence, it's no guarantee.

l waited until Rockie had all booster shots. My brother said l was over protective about not getting Rockie out at an earlier age. It was what l was comfortable with in regards to his safety.
