I do know Carl as I am a YTCA member. |
In no way am I attacking the BTCA- I am asking questions that I would hope any dog owner would want to know- I think it is very important to know if tests have been validated for the Biewer breed- regardless of what you call them (terriers, ala pom pons or what ever) You have stated on your web site that you have new state of the art testing for the Biewer Terrier-You made the statement public- The public would like to know- Like I stated I have spoken with several leading laboratories and they are interested in this testing also since they say there is no such test!!!! |

I have spent most of my summer showing at AKC events. I know the circle. So far, there is not one Yorkshire Terrier person I spoke with at the shows know anything about YorkieTalk and wouldn't touch it with a 10 foot pole. However, what I did find surprising is that a lot are aware of the Biewer Terrier and the BTCA. That I found surprising and refreshing. I'm about done posting on this forum. Many of these people don't want to learn, just bring up all the old posts on Biewers and Parti Yorkies and you'll see all the attacks our club has endured. For this, we are now moving away from them and concentrating on getting our Biewer Terrier accepted in AKC. There is where I'll be on an even playing field showing my Biewer Terrier. |

Sugar's Mom Dee thanks so much for posting this. I have a gorgeous Yorkshire Terrier and just recently we added a Biewer to our family. On Cosmo's papers I see Biewer a la Pom Pom (papers are in German so I need an interpreter...lol). I am not a breeder so I can't really add info but as a "buyer", and I can't speak for all "buyers" but for me, I try to do as much research as I can before selecting first breed of puppy I am interested in but also the breeder themselves. I, as a buyer, put my faith and trust into the breeders that they are giving me the healthiest puppy they can knowing what they know. I know that there is politics in everything but to the lay person it is just plain confusing. I just want to learn from you all since I have both:( |

Sorry Gayle, didn't realize it wasn't posted, but I do understand why. I find it interesting that any testing that is being done comes under such scrutiny. Questions and sharing of information is a wonderful thing, but the people who constantly assume or choose to believe there is no such test, the test is wrong, invalid, etc., I guess my question is why? Do you think the test is just a lie, that the BTCA is "making it up"? Everyone has a choice in what they do. If someone doesn't want to use this test, don't, but why criticize anothers choice if they do? Juliet |
OK please help me understand...is it the fact that the YTCA does not want the Biewer recognized as a Yorkie or that the BTCA wants the Biewer to be it's own breed? To me that makes no sense since the Biewer came from two traditional Yorkies? |

The dogs are shown in Germany and other countries under this standard. Google Translate In Germany the dogs are still called by the original name. Unless I am incorrect....the BTCA does not consider their biewer terriers the same breed. HTH. :) |
