Someone should contract this family . Find where he was lost , could be in the area he was found, also get same info, did he have a microchip and where did he get it done. It will be very easy to find out if they own the dog, by the microchip or their Vet name and phone #.
It would be wrong not to try to find his family first !!!. The truck could be just a photo up . I don't think someone would b that stup---id to put a small dog in the back like that. No Dog should be put in the back of any truck dump dump.
I hope the little guy will b ok , but family first , it can happen to any of us, and we would want our dog back. I know I would in a heart beep.

FYI, Please read everything, this little guy is going to a Rescue in Florida today. Yorkielove1986 did everything in his power to try and find the owner. Kit, with the Florida Rescue has helped us on YT before and she should be praised. I would like to thank both of these members for the incredible work they have done to help this one little pup. This is just my opinion but if that poster on Craigs list was the owner, I would have declined turning over this pup. Back of a pickup truck you got to be kidding. No way would I give this person that dog.....JMO....

I know your heart is in the right place, and the longer you stick around here, you will come to realize that not every member is a good member. Also, as I stated, this is a public forum and you don't have to be a member to read what is posted here, so as I said, there are lots of crazy's in this internet world, and when a Yorkie is posted as found and free, yes those crazy's are going to jump on it. This is the truth.

Also, while there are probably so many good loving homes that could provide a wonderful home, not every home and every dog is a perfect match. What a true reputable rescue does is #1 provide ALL the necessary Vet care, NO matter how expensive it could be, for example, Liver Shunt surgery is about $3000 to $4000. (not all families can afford to do this even if the dog is free). #2 the dogs goes into an experienced foster home where a number of things happen. The dog gets adjusted to family life and the foster family evaluates the dog, by doing this, the dog is guaranteed to be place in the best home that fits HIS NEEDS, a home that will be forever.

This dog was found by a man (Yorkielove1986). Now lets say YOU a good YT member takes this dog from Yorkielove1986 (skipping #1 and #2 above). And after 1 day you have come to realize, that being the boy he is, he starts to mark ALL of your furniture. Then you come to realize that he is actually afraid of women, every time you start to come close he shows his teeth, or he just hides under your bed and pees there. NOW WHAT????? You realize that You and this Dog are NOT A PERFECT MATCH. Ok, your life goes on, but what happens to the dog now????

So you see, a Reputable Yorkie Rescue (like Kit from Florida Yorkie Rescue) WILL ensure that this dogs FINALLY home is his FOREVER HOME.

I know you care and you are a good person, but I also wanted to point out why Rescue is so important and why it is the BEST thing. :)

I don't agree with not turning the pup over if it were his family. I had a Persian that always went outside for years and one time, he did not come back for 5 weeks. He was thin but not sick. He of course, died years later from cancer. But it shows you that a dog can run away and not have food for weeks but it is not the owners fault to the point that they should not get him back. I mess with photography and I am always looking for unique ways to photograph and a pickup truck would be cute.

I am saying no more on this controversial subject but even it the dog did have problems, it doesn't mean that the OP couldn't himself find the best home for him the same as a rescue. All the OP needed to do was list his qualities and non qualities (such as spraying which could be taken care of if neutered, maybe) and match a member here with him.

Again, the crazies won't come out if you charge for the vet fees.
