that's what i was thinking, i'm getting Sadie soon too, and i just had to know what most people did in that situation, i know how i'd feel about having her in the room, but i didn't want to make her feel sad or be cruel if i decided to shut her out...

i feel better, i think we'll just put her outside our door, maybe even put her little dog bed out there so she's comfy and let her in when we're turning down for the night.

Though the dogs are my kids also, I stick to my guns on this one, Out! No watchers! No getting in the middle. Obviously we tried it,so something happened to come to this conclusion.

Maybe you can put her xpen in the room and just cover it..that way she doesnt feel so left out...or do you not feel comfortable with her hearing things?

i dunno that might work, i think outside our door would be easiest, it's not that i care if she hears it, i just don't feel comfortable with another living, breathing, thing in the same room, i know it sounds silly, but it's just a heebie jeebie thing...maybe i'll get over it once she's in my life all the time and she starts to become a member of the bed at night...who knows. we don't have her yet, so we'll just have to see how we feel about it later on...but i'm probably still going to be weirded out having her in the room...??

i'd love to hear that story someday, but i won't ask you what happened....some things are just private matters

i think i'm agreeing with you, i don't want to start out that way and have something a little too weird for comfort happen to make it strange.

just leave her out of that part of our lives haha

LOL LOL LOL My mom loves Bailey so much I just tell her Bailey is coming for a overnight visit because i've gotten get caught up on work! Bailey FREAKS out when I put him in another room. He pees everywhere deliberately!

lol, this is funny!!! We have a king size, so either they are on the floor trying to curl up and sleep--or they are at the bottom of the bed trying to sleep.

What a great thread! I've always wondered what other people did. We have a crate in our room for Sadie to use the piddle pad during the night. It has a bed, food, and water in it. We just set her down in it with a toy or bullie stick for our time. I had a poodle a long time ago that was way, way too into "our" time. It was really like she knew what was happening. She would jump up on the bed and start humping anything in sight. We had to lock her out of the room. My husband coined the phrase bed-booting. It's stuck for whenever we want alone time we bed-boot the dog.

I would kick them out of the room. Stormy would always want to lay on the pillow next to my head and it was too strange for me!! I'd put her on the couch always and she didn't mind. My bullie on the other head is just a freak she will try to get in the middle of it and even go a step further and try to start licking our faces or something!! She gets kicked out too now because she tries to copy daddy sometimes when I am sitting on the couch

OMG! Yorkiemama22 bet get that boy trained. This thread is hilarious. When I have company, we have to spend some time with the babies. Mazie just lays in the living room, Misty on the couch, but I'm having problems with Cassie, she follows me everywhere, even into the shower. I put her outside the door and all she does is whine and cry. She'll get used to it.
