training puppy in the rain hi everyone ive managed to get ella to pee on the potty pads which is great but she is still pooing around the house! i want to train her to go outside and am trying to bring her out every hour, sometimes she goes, other times not. i am finding it hard to train her when it is raining out. Surely i cant stand out in the rain waiting for her to go, both of us get wet and cold, she doesnt like it and wont go potty when its raining. It rains alot where i live, most days Any suggestions what i should do??

I'm not sure if this will work for you, but I'll tell you what worked for me. Pixel was the same way - TOTALLY trained with pee, but would poop on (of all things) the DINING ROOM rug! lol I learned he didn't like to poop in the same place he peed. So NOW I have 2 pee pads (actually 3 because I leave one in his ex pen too - he never poops when I'm gone during the day, only an occasional pee so it works), one for pooping and one for pee and it has worked. Maybe you could try that? It has completely solved my problem Yep, Pixel just keeps on training ME to adapt to HIM lol

When it's raining, I take Apple out on a harness/leash holding her under an umbrella, in my arms...Then I squat down low to the ground, w/the umbrella over both of us and tell her to pee pee...For some reason, I've always been lucky here, and she will pee pee right where I put her down...However, I haven't tried to do this w/her poops, because she is one of those who has to "walk it out" lol...Most of the time, she makes it 'till there is a let up in the rain, but, to be honest, sometimes she just can't wait

My Yorkie hates the rain and will not go outside voluntarily if he can hear it. I think its because he is scared to death of the lightning. So when its raining I just pay extra close attention and when he gives that look or starts following me around like he's looking for something, I put him in the garage, which is made dog safe of course, and shut the door for maybe 20 minutes and when I come back, its all done. You are bound to miss a few dumps while he's figuring out this process, but most Yorkie owners know patience is the key to anything.

u can do it !!!!!lol Hi, I know I have one that poo outside and one that poo on the pad, what i'm doing is when he poo I put a little on the pad show him and give a treat and say good boy. It work with her , cause when we r in IL it snows alot , so I wanted them train to go on pad than go out side , but I need for them to learn the pads first, cause now in Orlando it rains alot. I think if u have the time just work with him only on the pads after it go on the pad than do outside second. My girl is so good, se will use the pad inside , butif we r outside and she needs to go she has no problem going. He will only go outside, but he was rehome , a friend couldn't keep him so I took them both in and now when he got a apartment he couldn't keep him, so as a puppy he was train to go outside. She just like to go outside to bark at the wind and ran lol. Good Luck ! bark@ulater! manina, miley, max
