Understood that motorcyles are dangerous. However, telling someone it's stupid is a bit over the top. Yes, accidents do happen, but as another poster said you have to watch out for the other person.

I saw the neatest motorcyle and I'm not a motorcyle person. I thought to myself....wow! hook up alil trailer to the back (show equipment) add a side car for my yorkie and off I'd go.......yeah! I'm dreaming but, it would be so cool.

Yep. You are right in that they are very dangerous. Especially if you do not respect the bike and the power behind the bike.

Please do not be a kill-joy and rude to top it off.

I have been riding since I was about 13. (thats about 32 years) Sure I have dumped it a LOT, but I also learned to RESPECT it.

Sometime's a bike is all that you have to ride. My DS does not have a car. He couldn't afford a car. So in a emergency, he would have to do what he has to do. I would rather that someone that MIGHT need to take the bike with the dog start training at a early age.

Doggles and GOOD STRAPS a must.

WOW, tough crowd...LOL. I have to say that we have been riding motorcycles since we were tall enough to put a leg over one. And we love it. I have also know people close to me who have been hurt while riding and a few have lost their life, but that is true of any sport, snowmobiling, hiking, boating, etc. We too have a convertible that Henry just loves and we are trying to work him up to the motorcycles. He is only 13 weeks old but we want him with us as much as possible. We try to stay active, we ride our motorcycles, we kayak, and we like to hike and he will be a part of all of that. One of the reasons that we got a yorkie was because they are small enough to take with us.

You must be my twin somewhere! We are the same way! As Ollie has gotten older (15 months now) he is getting more used to staying in his car seat, which I make him do whenever the top is down, he is strapped down.... let me know how he does on the bike, I am just itching to take Ollie out... as soon as we get all of our safety gear for him that is! I have never took my dog on my bike to LOOK CUTE!! Most of the time nobody even knows I have them with me. I take them with me so that I dont have to leave them home by there self and I can spend more time with them. The other reason is they love it. I also drive a convertible and they love it also, there is nothing like having the wind blow in your face. There is risk in everything we do.

How about those that drive with their dogs in their laps.....or unsecured in the car. Or worse yet, putting them in the back of the truck. How many times have you seen someone in a store with their dogs sitting in the shopping cart unsecured. How many allow their yorkies to jump off off things......

Everything has risk, so the best thing to do is trust that people have common sense and take the necessary precautions.

My husband has a motorcycle and I hate it, I dont let my kids on it let alone my dogs..

however he is adult, he enjoys it and he is careful when he rides... (hes been warned, first screw up I sell it

).. anyways.. I have seen several people in my small little town with dogs with them on thier bikes and they all have seem to take the nessacary precautions to keep their furbabies safe except for one guy that had his dog standing on the seat with its paws on the handles

.. I almost lost it!!

I agree with the poster above..everything in life has risks and you definitly see alot of animals in worse situations like dogs hanging out car windows while on the highway or big dogs in the back of pick ups...

Yes indeed motorcycles can be dangerous, also for auto and trucks, and especially the people that drive them and do not respect the person on the motorcycle.
As someone once told me. "You have to live before you die" or Living to die.
I wish that everyone had a chance to ride a bike, that way they would know what the bike has to contend with and the amount of thought that goes into every,turn and trying to have 8 sets of eyes. And always thinking ahead.
Yes, you will go down as some point, but hopefully it is a minor thing as we all know people who have lost there lives, and friends that are living with the problems of surviving death.

I ride hard, fast, but safe. Friends that I ride with teach motorcycle safety classes and one has even wrote a book on the subject. If you haven't taken the basic and advance motorcycle safety classes please do. The below video is a test video "car vs bike"

I witnessed an accident that was that exact same scenario, only the result was MUCH worse than was shown in the test video. The man on the motorcycle was thrown into the air so high that when he hit the pavement he bounced back into the air about 6-8 ft high. When he landed his body was bent backwards in half. My Mom and I stood there talking to him until the ambulance came, all he kept mumbling was, "please tell my wife and children that I love them, and say goodbye to them for me". When the ambulance showed up, they straightened his body out to put him on the stretcher and that's when he died. It was SO sad, particularly because he had the right of way. Sometimes it doesn't matter how careful and safe you are, there are other people on the road who may not be as cautious as you are.

Anyways, I think bike's are cool, and I have family members who ride...but after witnessing that accident, I could never do it. Just PLEASE keep your Yorkies safe if you insist on taking them cruisin'.

This is Henry on his first motorcycle ride, we only took a short ride around and stayed at a very low speed, he enjoyed it as much as the convertible, but will need Doggles. Will keep you updated as we will be getting a different pouch for him for safer riding, probably a backpack because that will be fully enclosed and he won't get as much wind.

Can anyone tell me to make the pictures bigger to view. Thanks Henry
