| just introducing Hello, I am new and I want to say I have two yorkies, one is a female weight is 6.5 pounds and the male is 11 pounds. The male was born Dec. 21, 2008. The female is in her third heat and I am wondering should I keep them apart? I am afraid since he weighs so much she may have a large litter and need a C-section. I don't want to loose my little girl. |

| I would get them spayed and neutered if you don't want them to mate. I'm not an expert but I would think Yes keep them apart. Welcome to yt.

| Welcome to YT. A small female and a large male are not a good combination. There are many here on YT that will tell you that if you have an unaltered female and male around you will have an accident. It takes just one time and the deal is on. The only way to ensure that your female will be safe is to spay and neuter. Right now with the economy in such bad shape there are many little Yorkies being abandoned because the owner can't afford to take care of him/her. It's getting more and more difficult to afford to take care of a pet. ~Joanne~
