Ok so I have not been on in a while no internet... but any who I am due with my first child due in august and I am worried how my little puppy Pixie is going to act. She is almost 2 years old in fact our baby is due on her birthday august 23rd. I have heard mixed reviews that yorkies are not family dogs

and that they are not good with babies? My husbands mom has her brother and he is spoiled and the baby. Well today there was a 7 month old baby at there house an she said he went crazy just barking and going nuts. I need some help because my puppy has been around kids but kids that are 2 years and up no babies really. I am just needed to know what is a good thing to do or is there anything good to do.?????

Oh I feel so bad for you. I'm sorry I have no advice, I have no small children but I do have grandchildren and mine do not bark and go crazy. They do try to hide because they aren't used to them. They live 2 hours away. I'm sure someone will have good advice for ya. I would just say don't get too upset just yet.

I hope everything works out just fine for you, and your family including your Pixie.

thank you... I know I am just trying harder and harder not to baby her now. Just so she knows I am not going to always hold her when she wants it. She has calmed down a lot more. She just sleeps a lot when we are home but when people come over she is just a wild child and wants to sniff everyone she has a thing for checking out eyes and ears before you and put her down its strange she has been doing that for a while.

Congratulations! I'm sure all will go well for you. Just be patient, allow your Yorkie to see and sniff baby when you bring her/him home but NEVER allow them to be alone together just in case. My Misty was fantastic with our youngest daughter when we brought her home. MistyBlue was about 14 yrs old by that time and had been with me all her life. She became very protective of all our daughters but especially the baby

She would sleep under or next to the cradle and would run to me every time my daughter whimpered, snuffled, sneezed, etc

I think Misty thought the baby was hers

I have heard people suggest getting recording of babies crying and playing it a couple times a day before the baby is born so that the dog can get use to it in advance. I don't know if it works or not we had our kids then our dogs but it is worth a try.
