| bump Hi Everyone, I was rubbing my Bella's belly which she loves. She lies on her back with her front and back legs spread allowing me to caress her belly. I noticed she has this small blister like bump on the inside of one of her back legs. I've never noticed it before. Would anyone know what it could be? I'm thinking of bringing her to the vet tomorrow because of this. I almost looks like a small blister but I'm not sure. Ricky |

| could it be a bug bite? Layla gets those on the inside of her legs. I think it is because they are so close to the ground. |

| Hi marcerella02, that's what I'm thinking - some type of bite but I'm not sure. Hi capt_noonie, thanks! I'm posting a picture. I've circled where the bump is.... Thanks, Ricky Last edited by ricky; 06-26-2009 at 04:40 PM. |

| hmm.. bug bites are usually red- that looks like maybe soemthing is in her skin and is now looking a bit infected- i'd go to the vet- better safe than sorry. It could be a bug bite that is infected- just the yellow that worries me. I'm sure they will just drain it. |

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | Yeah, the yellow worries me too, do you have a vet you can call, and just ask questions? I do this a lot with mine, and he'll tell me what to look for, or ask other questions, and decide if Joey needs to be seen. I wonder if you could email the vet the picture, great picture.

YT 1000 Club Member | I'd take her in to the vet. You don't want it turning into an abcess. Those are awful if they get bad enough. Had 2 cats once that had that happen from biting each other. They had to have drain tubes left in and on antibiotics for it to heal. Better to catch it early whatever it is.

| marcerella02: thank you! it does look like it's infected a little....I hope it's just a bug bite and nothing more serious. She was just fixed 3 weeks ago. I brought her outside yesterday for the first time since so maybe she was bitten then. Nancy1999: thanks! I do have a vet but he's not available until tomorrow. I was going to call him tomorrow morning and see what he thinks. roxies_mom: thank you so much! I'm going to call the vet tomorrow early to see. I hope it's nothing serious. I get crazy when it comes to my Bella. My wife and I don't have any children so she's like my daughter. I treat her that way anyway. Maybe I'm just weird but I don't care because I love her so much. Thank you all for your kind words and support. I'll call the vet tomorrow and see what he thinks and will let everyone one. Thanks, Ricky |

| Yikes, the yellow is a bit scary. Is it filled with puss? I say, yes go to the vet, that isn't a bug bite!

| I would lance it, drain it, then apply a thin coat of neosportin on it. If it comes back or gets worse, then visit the vet. No need overreact yet. There is no redness and or swelling that I can see, so no infection yet. |

| It doesn't look like a bite. Does it feel like a blister, soft and squishy? That is all that it looks like to me. I would probably not take her to the vet just because of that either, but I won't try to talk you out of it. I do think if you can either email the pic or fax it to the vet, they might be able to relieve your worries without a visit. I might just leave it alone for a week and see what happens to it on its own. I would lance it and add the neosporin only if the vet thinks that is the thing to do. Thing is, bodies make those nice little blisters to let things heal with a good protective covering. This one does not look like it is filled with pus (infection). I know it has a yellowish tinge, but there is no redness in the area and it doesn't look gross (technical medical term ) It looks like most blisters which are full of a clear liquid that cushions the site, allowing it to heal in an enclosed sterile environment. Lancing it can unnecessarily allow bacteria in. I would only lance a blister if it is too large, causing discomfort or restricting movement, or looking infected, which this one is not. Wanted to add that blister could be caused by many different things. It doesn't look like a place where friction would cause it, but maybe even a little urine left there could have irritated the skin. Other contaminants could have gotten there, anything from a household cleaner to sap from a weed or plant. Just ideas.....
