| ![]() I am sorry you had a bad experience with your breeder> however, NOT all breeders, reputable ones DO not operate in this manner. As others have said, do your research, and only choose from a good quality, reputable breeder.

| ![]() the title of your thread is rude. basically, you didn't do the necessary research to know how to find a reputable breeder before purchasing your dogs. so you have to take responsibilities for your own mistakes. not write a post blaming others. (especially making a blanket statement like that!) there are a lot of bad breeders out there. don't become one of them yourself. there is a lot of research/education you need before you can start breeding, you can't just buy two dogs and try to breed them. that is irresponsible and potentially dangerous for the mother and the pups. please do more research. |

| ![]() Clearly you are no where near ready to become a breeder...for pets or otherwise. If you didn't know to research before you bought your two pups, you certainly don't know what all needs to be done to breed. PLEASE PLEASE don't attempt this. It is dangerous to the mother and the puppies and it's unfair to everyone involved. This is NOT something to go into blindly. It is not just plunk down a stud and a bitch and hope they "hit it" so you can make some money. There are many valid reasons why reputable breeders sell pups for a higher price than backyard breeders. You can't just pop in to a message board and ask where to get a couple cheap dogs to breed, it doesn't work this way. |

| ![]() My .02.... You can sell your puppies for whatever price you want to. However, if you are going to breed, you need to breed quality dogs regardless of anything else. Not every dog should be bred. There's so much more involved than price. Evidently, the "breeder" that you got your puppies from has no clue about it either. You got what you paid for. Please stop and think about what you're doing before you contribute to the endless supply of puppy mills and byb's that our state already has too much of.

| ![]() Yes, i would like to sell pets for less, i think everyone should be able to have and enjoy the yorkie breed. I know you all have done alot of work and thats great but many kids and moms would like them to and can't afford them. Price is not everything, no i'm not wanting to make money on them just brake even with the vet and shots and everything else. I'm sorry if i upset some breeders, but i'm thinking of all the famailys not just some, this will be my last reply |

| ![]() You will quickly find out just how expensive it is to properly raise a litter of yorkies by the time you have all the testing done on your adults, the costs of all the vet visits for the puppies and heaven forbid something happen and you have to have an emergency spay or someone gets sick. There's so many other expenses as well. Having a proper place for your dogs to be, pens, bedding, grooming, whelping supplies, etc. If they can't afford the puppy, can they afford to take care of it properly? Are you willing to take back every puppy you sell if they can't? It's not that you want to charge a low price that is upsetting. It's your disregard for not breeding correctly that is most upsetting. We're just trying to get you to understand that you've only begun the process of learning about what it takes to be a good breeder. You have a LOT more to learn before you should have even purchased dogs for breeding. Don't place the blame for your mistakes on all breeders.

I understand your wanting to make people happy and that's a good thing. But, providing them with a good representation of the breed, healthy, and socialized would add to that happiness.

yes, there are people that would love to have a yorkie and can not afford them. those people also won't be able to afford to pay for the treatments their yorkie will need if it has health/genetic problems because you are just breeding two dogs without all the proper tests to ensure that they are free of any health issues down the road. if those families that you decide to sell your puppies to can not afford to pay for the medical treatments necessary, will you be helping them with those costs or will you just let the dogs suffer and die. breeding dogs is a big responsibility. you don't seem to understand that. | |

To me, it sounds like you aspire to be a Backyard Breeder. I don't think that you'll get much help around here with that. However, there are alot of tips scattered around this site that can educate you on what to look for when you purchase your next pup.
