| Am I crazy? OK, don't answer that... furbaby purse??? I was always one of those people who thought it was so ridiculous to actually purchase a purse to carry around your pooch. They're a dog for goodness sake! That was until I had a Yorkie. I'm hopelessly in love! Although I'm a new Yorkie owner, I've only had Lily two days, I want to take her with me everywhere (once she's completed all of her shots, of course). Is it crazy? Are dogs allowed in most places? I don't want to leave her in my car if she isn't allowed in while I'm shopping or running errands. I'm losing my mind, right? Someone please talk me down, or I'm going to do it... I'm going to take her everywhere!!! |

| Welcome to Yorkie Talk!! Nope, you're not crazy. There are a lot of people that take their Yorkie with them. I don't because unfortunately most places around here don't allow dogs. Mine wouldn't stay still in one of the carriers. If she would I might try to sneak her into places with me. So....I say do it!!! Especially if dogs are allowed in places around you or if your little one will be still in a carrier. Good luck. |

| Hilarious!! I know "preaching to the choir" doesn't really apply, but you get what I mean. LOL I'm asking Yorkie lovers this question... too funny! What about dressing them up? I want to buy clothes so bad... I truly think I've lost my mind now. I have 3 small children and finding clean underwear for each of them every day is a challenge... and now my Yorkie? OK, I'm going to do it! She is only 9 weeks old, but is it too soon to start dressing her up? |

Thor's Human Donating Member | Welcome! A few short months ago, I was just lke you. Dogs are supposed to walk on the GROUND, NAKED. I really don't know why it's so fun to dress them up, but it really is. Come to the dark side, yiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiisssssssssssss. Dressing my dog is a guilty pleasure, but I definitely think you should get a carrer for her (with considerations about her growing). There's a recent thread in the articles section (above) about how dangerous it is to leave your dog in the car, even in moderate temperatures, even for a few minutes. Also remember that as a puppy, she is valuable and unfortunately someone could happen by and steal her. I take Thor everywhere with me. Shoe stores, grocery stores, hair salons.... We walk to our destination, then into the bag he goes.

| Everything looks different after you own a Yorkie. I actually used to think it silly to put clothes on a dog! Now I have several outfits for the Yorkies and have recently got a couple of T-shirts for my Jack Russell so she doesn't feel slighted. Yes, I have a nice discreet carrier that I can slip them in a few places. I always said no dogs in bed but a little Yorkie doesn't take up much room. They are so much fun to spoil!

| It's easier when they are very young and they don't seem to make any noise. It's then, that most stores don't seem to mind having a pup there. I've noticed lots of people bringing their dogs (and cats!) to Home Depot even tho it says no pets on the entrance. I've brought Uni there, and no one said anything. I think if they are fairly quiet, no one will say anything. Train your pups to like jumping into the bag/purse, so they won't cry when they're in there! Yay!!!

| Yes! Clothes! I never put anything on either of my 2 yorkies that I had before Abby, except a sweater and or coat when it was cold outside. Now I do dress Abby when we go visiting. She has a couple of summer dresses, some sweaters, a few (too many) coats as it gets very cold in the winter here. I got a couple of her things at Petco and Petsmart. We also have a place called Wet Nose that I love. I have never ordered anything for her online....yet Being only 9 weeks old, I am positive she is still going to grow, so take that into consideration when buying clothes and a carrier. Just have fun spoiling your furbaby. |

Thor's Human Donating Member | If you do a search (link on the top of the forum) on "clothes", "purse", "carrier", you will get TONS of hits. You can also look at the "Featured Products For Sale" forum, we have a lot of great vendors here! I think this is one of the best sites to find stuff because people understand just how small these dogs can be. The carriers are tough because there are SO many different options there. Also, I would google the pet stores & boutiques in your local area and look around. You can get a sense of what brands fit her there.

| I see the Yorkie bug has bitten you, too, lol! I've had dogs all my life and never thought about dressing them or putting them in a purse. Now, I do it all the time, except it has been so hot here in Texas, I haven't put clothes on Lulu in a couple of weeks. I also have a cute, hot pink purse I bought on Craigslist that I put her in when we are out and about. No one knows she is in there, lol! I don't know what it is, but there is something about a Yorkie...they are unlike any other dog I've ever known...

| I don't buy clothes except sweaters, coats for cold weather and they have a good amount of them at Petco. My mom also crocheted several sweaters and capes for Noelle. She added some beautiful little touches like a cameo button She even made a felted rain proof cape with a beautiful clasp. But a purse, in my opinion, is a necessity! Noelle is so small and sometimes I feel safer having her in a purse than a leash. |
