LIVID MAD and need help! I had a mobile groomer come to my house yesterday , she asked if I could not stay with Laci because she will want me, I told her TRIM her up , not shaved , just trim... well guess what I came in and she cut her top not OFF, I am furious... I was yelling at the poor girl... but I dont feel bad at all, I cant even believe she did it.. Laci is only 6 months old, how long before it grows to put a pony tail in.. I cant even tell you how irate I am I was crying and yelling, she asked me if Laci wore bows... I have hundreds of dollars worth of bows OMG I am soo angry !! She just kept saying no she looks cute, I really wanted to cut her pony tail off and tell her she looked cute... uurrgghhh , how long does top knot hair take to grow back on a puppy... she nearly shaved it:eek::eek::eek: |
I'm sorry. :( That's a shame. Usually, the mobile groomers are pretty good too with not doing that kind of thing. Did you get your money back? |
your talking a year |

If not, why didn't you refuse to pay her? Most groomers (and stylists, for that matter) will not collect from you if you are not completely satisfied. |

Oh my, that is really upsetting! I remember when I had our groomer give Adie a puppy cut because I was so tired of her fighting me when I would do her topknot. I hated it and couldn't wait for it to grow back in. I don't think it took year though. If Laci had a topknot at 6 months I would imagine that she will be back to where she was by the time she is a year old or sooner. Isn't she still loosing puppy fur at that age? Lets see some before and after photos. I bet she is as cute as a bug! |
We has Sugar shaved down to a puppy cut cuz it was getting close to summer heat time here in Florida - they cut her top knot off too! That was the end of march and I can get a bow in now (she is 2 and a half years old). :animal36 |

Oh I feel your pain...been there, done that and was thoroughly ticked off. I had specifically TOLD one groomer...do NOT cut any of the hair on Reggie's head. None, zip, zero. I don't know how this was misunderstood...because I said it repeatedly. And she did it anyway. She got an earful and lost my business. I hope she didn't trim at bridge of her nose too. You can expect it to take a year to grow back. |

I cannot believe a groomer would cut off a topknot without asking!! That is horrible. I have had my share of poor groomings. I have also done it myself. I figure at my worst, I never did as bad as a couple of groomers I had to pay. But I have also had excellent groomers who worked magic on my dogs. The same thing happens to my own hair. I am sporting a VERY short cut right now that was supposed to be a medium length bob. Somehow that got confused with "cut it to ear lobe length!" It was so uneven, I had to go the next day and pay another stylist to even it up. I tipped the first stylist too! How silly is that? Somehow it is even more aggravating on our Yorkies though. We take such pride in their coats and having it get long enough for that topknot is a milestone we eagerly await. To have someone just dash it all because they couldn't pay attention to what you wanted, is frustrating to say the least! I bet it is long enough to make a starter topknot in 4-6 months. I will check back for pictures. I am betting Laci still looks cute as a button despite the inattentive groomer! I have to tell you, I seriously LOL'd when I read your comment, "I really wanted to cut her pony tail off and tell her she looked cute." |
What a dumb-a**!!!! OMG, I would be furious also. Mobile groomer my butt... more like "butchers r us"! Grrrrr...... I think you should have cut her ponytail too! |

I feel so bad for you. I swear my DH has no problem telling people when they have REALLY screwed up, especially when they don't even have a clue! Want him to make a call.....??? (rolling sleeves up)... |
I do not understand why they can't listen to people and if they have questions ask first before cutting. I have been doing Laddy's grooming since we got him but have been thinking about a groomer until I read this lol. I really thought about taking him and Lolita to a friend who has been showing me some on grooming but my daughter took her silky there and was pretty upset she said she told her to barely trim and shape and do a sani-trim. Everything looked good except....she shaved little Petey's entire tummy:eek: Of course doing that made his skirt look very thin. I think I will just keep learning and keep grooming at home. |
Sorry..... What a bummer! At least it will grow back and isn't permanent...I'd be mad too! Sorry... |
Something to make you feel better... Quote:

First off, there is NO excuse for this crap and I would demand a refund. Never ever pay up front for a "service" and only pay when satisfied! Then, absolutely cut that *&^%$#%^& pony tail off!!! Then say, "Oh damn, I was mistaken. I thought you'd look cute but you don't...and never did!":D I can't believe the number of groomer horror stories. I'll never take Curly to a "pro". This is crazy and they think it's acceptable??? I know how pissed you are and I hate it for both of you. |
I was debating on finding a groomer for Lucy, but now I think I will just invest in clippers, table and stuff and do it myself. DH would probably have a fit if Lucy ended up looking like she did the first and only time we took her to be groomed. She looked ridiculous and he felt bad for insisting she needed a "trim". |

OMG I can't imagine how heartbroken you were to see her like that! I would have been furious! If she works for a company and isn't independent I would call them and tell them as many curse words as you can too! I know it is no comfort, but at least the hair will grow back and we aren't talking about irreversible surgery or something. In the mean time, we will all sit back and fantasize about you chopping off the horrible groomer's ponytail!!! :sidesplt: |
aww i feel bad for the pooch, when a groomer shaved cash, not what i wanted, i was pissed and I swear cash understood, he got all shy and sad looking, make shure to give ur fur butt hugs and kisses so she knows its not her fault. |
oh my i would be mad to. at ciaras last grooming the lady cut her bangs i was like why would you do that and cut the hair between her eyes as short as possible i can not wait for it to all grow out |
That was really bad, what the groomer did to your baby! I'd be pissed off too! My Suzi had to be shave down several months ago, and her hair is still not long enough for a topknot. It's almost there though! The thing is , that it is the stagewhere her hair hangs down , however not yet long enough. I feel for you. i'd definately would have been telling off that groomer:thumbdown |
I cut Laya's top knot off because she would take it down several time a day. It's just easier for us, but about every 3 months it has grown enough to put in a bow. I would say in 6 months you will probably be close to where you were. So sorry your groomer sucked. Next time insist on staying! If they say no, get another groomer. It's your money and you have the right to do so. |
uuuughh, what a terrible groomer, geeeezz. It is so tough to find someone who is goooooddd. I have told the person myself and left written my instructions on paper, they still get it wrong. I did find a very nice lady and now if they need a trim I go to her. Hopefully you will find someone too or purchase a dvd that shows how to clip the hair. Who knows, you may discover a talent you did not know about ;). Grow hair, grroooowww. :) |
